in 2000, the bush v gore race was in doubt following the election. there are two states in which you really frankly had to do a recount to have any reason to believe that the election numbers in the certifications that would be coming from this election with numbers in the more formal process was accurate. we help the vote pass by overwhelming bipartisan support. virtually unanimous dealing with real issues identified in the bush v gore recount. there were real problems with elections administration. real problems with election counting casting systems that didn't work well enough for the 21st century. those were real crisis. we can and should point out that we now have a crisis of competence in the system. whether that's fair or not, i doubt it's fair. unfortunately, the proposal of congress right now of the democratic leadership, the fireman dealing with that crisis neither of these bills is any type of genuine effort to have bipartisan support for the changes and they simply are firemen showing up at the fire of confidence with gasoline rather tha
