summer: breaking news from tallahassee, where governor scott has signed a large portion of the state budget into law. and among the projects to survive, the money for u.c.f' s downtown campus. jim payne is in the breaking news center with more. s office announced which projects made the final cut and the ucf downtown campus survived his veto pen. last year, the governor denied it ucf' s request for 15 million dollars for the project, and that had some people wondering survive. the downtown campus is expected to cost $75 million, $20 million from the state, $20 million from private donors, with the remainder coming from the school. the campus will be located where the amway arena once stood in the parramore neighborhood. it will be home to more than 7,000 ucf and valencia college students. ucf president john hitt just released a statement, calling this day a milestone and, " we appreciate governor scott' s support and his sharing our belief that ucf downtown will transform the lives of our students and the future of our community." now that the budget hurdles seem to be out of the way
