to grady trimble, who is on the ground in philly. grady? reporter: liz, joe biden's lead has been growing throughout the day as mail-in votes are still being counted here in the city of philadelphia, at the pennsylvania convention center, and in other cities throughout the state. as of right now, joe biden holds a lead of about 13,500 votes but as i mentioned, that number has been getting bigger each and every hour as more and more mail-in ballots are being counted. today for the third day in a row, more protests between the anti-trump count every vote protesters and the pro-trump demonstrators who want, as they say, every legal vote to be counted. they agree with the president's claims that this election is somehow rigged and that there's cheating going on by democrats. philadelphia's mayor, though, he's a democrat, he calls those claims baseless and well, he had some harsh words for the president. >> he's going to acknowledge the fact that he lost and he needs to congratulate the winner just as jimmy carter did, as george h.w. bush and fr

grady trimble in chicago on how that's all sorting out. hey, grady.s sort of a bust by design. retailers were really pushing people to shop online, and they did, in large numbers. it was the second biggest day for online shopping ever, behind only cyber monday from last year. this year, on cyber monday, expected to top that. americans are expected to spend between $10.8 billion and $12.7 billion today. that's up between 15% and 35% compared to last year. foot traffic, of course, has been way down at retail locations, including this walmart, down about 52% compared to black friday last year. but like i said, that was by design. the retailers started the sales early and they really encouraged people to go shop the online doorbusters this time around. target, as an example, in the month running up to black friday, and this week, this past weekend, their sales were up 305%, according to edison trends, but amazon, as you might expect, still had the market share of about 55% for online sales over this past weekend on thanksgiving and black friday. but peopl

grady, what's the latest? reporter: well, neil, jeff mentioned that pennsylvania might not end up matter, but as of now it still does. if it comes down to this key state what is going on behind me, the pennsylvania convention center could be exact votes it comes down to. as jeff mentioned the vote count there, that is what they're doing in this building. the mail in votes have not been counted. half of them for the city of philadelphia have to be counted. about 1.2 million of them statewide. so far that has been a slow process. what the president set out to do on election day was get his supporters to show up in person to vote, run up his total so that once those mail in votes are counted he would still have a lead but that is the big question right now. will he have a big enough lead once all of those mail in votes do get counted? and the president indicating that he would pursue legal action depending on the results. take a listen. >> the delay we're seeing is a sign that the system is working. this is a new

let's head out to naperville, illinois, where we find grady trimble. reporter: liz, this is one of those businesses that is worried about the possibility of a second stay-at-home order and that is certainly an idea that the governor of illinois has floated in the past few days. we are outside of chicago right now but in chicago, the mayor just announced that starting monday, she will be starting a new stay-at-home advisory that will be in effect from monday until the next 30 days. here are some of the things that the mayor is suggesting. stay home except for essential outings. stop having guests over, even family. avoid non-essential travel and cancel your traditional thanksgiving plans. it's unclear if that advisory has any teeth but it will certainly keep a lot of people home and unfortunately, out of businesses like this one. and this comes as coronavirus cases across the midwest are on the rise and that's why a lot of states in the midwest have instituted heightened coronavirus restrictions. some have put stay-at-home recommendations in place. and

grady trimble is in illinois with the latest. what's going on there, grady?s yesterday. hospitalizations are also on the rise. and now the department of health is putting out a recommendation for people to stay at home. that's not an order, but they are urging people to stay home except for essential activities, like going to the grocery store and the pharmacy and to work from home, if they can, and of course this is going to impact businesses like where we are. in wisconsin the governor announcing a similar recommendation there and several midwest states are introducing heightened coronavirus restrictions, as cases there rise. here in illinois, the governor has said he is considering another stay at home order which would force businesses to close. that would impact places like retail locations, salons, gyms, even hospitals, they would have to cut back on those elective surgeries, like they did earlier this year. and you know, we're talking to business owners because these are the people affected by these policies. pam bartlett is the owner here. you had to
