lighting, sight lines, graffiti resistance. because those things will have a pretty different feel with ramps there, with the shading. i think the use of art on the undersides of structure also be helpful. depending on ownership it can take negotiation to get permits to fix art and lighting. we have been through other parts of that. i think the -- it will be important to make sure this really works and the a safe place to be. inviting place to be 24 hours a day. >> we are definitely doing that, but thank you. that is an excellent comment. in fact, we are working with a tgpa security consultant too. obviously it is a consideration with any park. one of the things we found is the best solution is creating active uses that will keep people in there. even if you have that you've still got to pay attention to sight lines, not put a big row of hedges where someone could hide and create a safety issue. it is definitely an issue we are taking a close look at. >> thank you. >> i'm a big fan of making public uses out of -- under freeway

we watched as city crews cleaned up that graffiti. someone spray painted the word killers on the front door. this broke out around 10:30 last night. several protestors were here. they faced off with officers that were in riot gear. during the protests someone spray painted the front side of the police station. no one was arrested but it certainly got heated. >> when you do something corrupt and evil people see. people see right through it. >> reporter: that demonstration was in response to a police shooting that happened around 8:00 last night. it was just a few blocks away on 14th street near south vaness. that is where they were chasing after a suspected gang member. police say that man pulled out a tech 9 pistol. officers ordered him to drop it but officers say he raised the weapon and the off thes opened fire. the man holding the gun was hit twice and was taken to the hospital but he is expected to be okay. no one was hurt at the protest. at this point you can see that things are back to normal here at the mission police station.
