apparently crashed into a grandstand area. the footage that we have of the moment of impact is taken, as you can see here, from one area of seating at this air race. the reason that there may be so many casualties in this event, again, we do not have confirmed deaths, but reports of dozens of casualties. the reason there may be people hurt here, although you can't see it in this footage, apparently this plane went down into another area of seating, described as a grandstand. it's possible that that was a vip area, although we do not have that confirmation. it's also possible that may have been a grandstand where members of the media who were covering this event would have been seated for doing that. again, that is unconfirmed. we know it's a separate grandstand from the seating area that you can see here. we are expecting further information from the authorities as they start to release information, again, this is still an unfolding crisis in reno. also reporters on scene as we are able to get more concrete information about t

it landed in a box seat area in front of the main grandstand. there were people seated in the vicinity of the main crash area. they describe it as being a terrific sound of wreckage and bodies strewn over a wide area. >> what do we know about the pilot? >> he was an experienced racing pilot. he is taken place in this event a number of times. he was in his 70's. not only an experienced racing pilot but a stunt pilot as well. he has been described as one of the best of this particular kind of flying anywhere in the world. he knew what he was doing. this was a terrible tragedy for his family. he had a large family. many of those people were watching what happened. >> it has been something of a controversial event. will it continue? >> that there is a question as to whether it will continue. the believers you believe it should. questions have been raised. sending this children to watch this. one reason why some people are frightened is that the low altitude that these planes fiat, something between 5,100 feet. that crowd is close to these aircraft a

how much is fact finding and how much is political grandstanding? >> reporter: a combination of both, thomas. one of the reasons solyndra is in the cross hairs is because the president visited the company, the department of energy backed it and it got a lot of support from the administration at a time they thought it presumably was a company that could have an impact in the industry. some of these executives before them today had come and made personal visits here to capitol hill toll assure members the company was in good financial shape right before getting that $535 million loan guarantee from the government, and then it went bell e y up only a week later. they feel mislate. a lot of anger. part of the reason they decided to use their fifth amendment right. frustration the taxpayers were on the hook for this money but aren't getting answers. in some ways the humiliating experience of bringing the ceos and heads in front of the spotlight with the questioning and trying to keep pressure on certainly for the administration as well. thomas? >> kelly
