grant. hope you take that away from this talk. in fact, i think that the failed relationship between general grant, general rosecrans, and rosecrans and everyone else was very detrimental to the union cause. so, i'm going to talk a little bit about general rosecrans, how it's more than just him and what you read about him and ulysses s. grant. i'll talk about how his issues played out over the various theatres he served in the various wars. for much of the conflict, the war backed and effective command -- lacked an effective command structure that campaign between different armies in different theaters, sometimes within the same theater. jealousies, political differences and bitter rivalries between northern generals solve them fighting almost as much as their confederate enemies. slight exaggeration, but in some cases, it was true. as william shanks remarked, "jealousy did more actual damage during the war than incompetency." perhaps a little bit of an overstatement, but let's test that the
