[applause] >> it is true, there are a lot of wonderful things about san francisco. there is all of us. there is all that marvelous food. and we have terrific leadership. it is important that we have good leadership in the departments, the mayor's office, and in our budget office. but, likewise, really important that we have great leadership in our board of supervisors. david chiu is the president of our board, and he knows the issue of technology, plus many other things, a very, very intimately. he probably knows more than any of us will ever -- are ever likely to know. we might wish to know it, but we probably will not because he comes

our public housing site, a place we know that people not only want to survive but be part of the great city of san francisco so we are investing in people here. some months ago the police chief and me and others announced our effort to make public safety more important in the city and interrupt the violence, interrupt the patterns that we see with horrible months this year and what they're doing in terms of retaliation and violence among themselves. allow the police department to use the technology that they have and do police predictable policing and getting them the tools and the support from the rest of the city that they can do better predictive policing when it comes to crime patterns in the city and what is going on, but the most important part and you will hear this from the chief, from deanna and myself is the community organizing. that the strength of any program is investment in our people and that means organizing our communities, faith base communities and different organizations, the tenants right here in sunny dale, the residents here in this valley, all around mclaren park fo

lahood for the great gift to our great city. the new money that is going to be used here is going to create 1,000 new jobs before the end of the year with many more jobs to come after that. that is something to applaud. thank you again secretary lahood for that. this is one point 7 miles very similar to the length of the golden gate bridge when 75 years ago that was going to be built and little did we know what that bridge would bring to the economy of san francisco and marin and as we look ahead for 75 years it's interesting what this does for this region. you know the bay area has become the blue angels of science. we do lots of stunts, and we are very successful at doing those stunts and we do them at high speeds, and between this project and the project for cal train to electifiy it over the next seven years $3 billion is going to be spent regionally on transit here, and we can say thank you to the secretary of transportation and to the regional transit authorities who have create thursday opportunity for the transportation.

mayor lee's working group can make a great city even greater. other cities are watching san francisco. what we do here will influence them, and that could change the world. there are a lot of questions, too. the sharing economy waits to be shaped by policy. it is in its adolescence. this is a transformative moment. it is waiting to be shaped by policy, but for whose benefit? we believe it should be shaped for the benefit of as many people as possible, and especially for those who need it the most. . we also need new regulations, not simply application of the old. otherwise, the sharing economy will fail to meet its promises. 30 of things that are the biggest threats to our society. i will open a panel -- there are two things i think are the biggest threats to our society. i will give you a high level brief of the sharing economy. there is no textbook definition of the sharing economy. we will then begin the panel discussion which will last for 45 minutes or an hour, however long you want it to last. before i dived in here, raise your hand if you

[ applause ] and just like your great supervisor david chiu supports things that happen in my district i want to support north beach and this part of the city. even more important, this project, this fight about the north beach branch library, about joe dimaggio, fundamentally was about whether we were going to be moving forward as a city. whether we were going to focus just on the past or also on the future of our city. whether we were going to focus on what recreation was like 25 or 50 years ago or what needs to happen today and in the future in san francisco? and we won that battle and we sent a clear message that that city has a strong future for everyone and we're going to make it happen. thank you and congratulations. inviting thousands more people here to enjoy our resources here in the city, to tax us a little bit on it, but this is what we do as a great international city. all of you have a very distinct role in all of this and it's my pleasure to begin telling you how proud i am and the months of september and particularly october have all been full of great events, and numerous events, and sometimes on schedules that while we had mentally took note they would be on the similar weekends, we were of course needing to really communicate with each other, and make sure we did all the things in the background that no one ever sees and talks to each other to make sure things happen smoothly, and i want to give big kudos to ed risin and all the others in transportation and advising people to take public transportation and emphasize that in all of our major international and worldwide and world seize of events that happened in the city. >> >> whether it's america's cup or fleet week or some incredible music on the bluegrass side of the city as well as just neighborhood events that we continue to invite we shined very well because we did do

[inaudible] rejected an ordinance -- [inaudible] >> thank you very much. next speaker. >> hello. my name is glenda rider and the owner and producer of the international ms. leather weekend. we hold it here in san francisco and half of the attendees live outside of the city of san francisco. i would like to speak to oppose this ban on public nudity. while i may not like to see the gentlemen unclothessed in the castro i think it's a matter of tolerance and as someone who brings half a million dollars of business to the city when we looked for a new hotel when we out grew our current property half of the city hojts me -- hotels this is a family hotel. i don't want your costumes in san francisco. i moved from the east coast and i thought california and san francisco specifically would be more tolerant. what i found that is not the case and that breaks my heart and i would hate to see the supervisors of this great city, this amazing home to free spirits, codify intolerance and the fact tha

, a city target store here in the middle of the city is going to be great and i love daly city and others but you know they're quiet and rather to drive down there our residents, our visitors can have a store right in the heart and have the brand names of things we're accustomed here. i think they will find it convenient and on all levels of affordability and so forth and i think the store is going to be a over night success. i'm a big supporter of it. gosh talking about being a corporate citizen and the construction jobs and the permanent jobs and they really did itlet right way and of the 300 jobs people have been hired by city target. 70% are franciscan residents. isn't that a great accomplishment? i know they worked hard. they worked hard with mission hiring hall and economic and work force development and the hiring events here and training and built up the expectations and they were met and this is what i love about being the mayor of san francisco. we can talk about jobs and working with target we can actually deliver them and this is the prochgz a good e
