along with selling green products, you run green yourself. you run efficiently. you produce most of your energy on site through solar panels did you deliver your product bike tracks that run on biodiesel. a quick shot to the epa smart way program to help that biodiesel go further and further. you work with suppliers to make them greener as well. these practices help to save money on operations. i am happy to be standing with the epa in the strong call for green chemistry and water innovation in our country. along with spreading the word about the importance of green business and the green economy, we need chemicals reform. we have called for it. the president has called for it. we need water protection, which we are fighting to maintain at epa right this moment. they are important for americans and important for businesses to understand the tie between a healthy environment and accessible product and making money. now we approach coastal cleanup day, so you're cutting edge work now producing bottles made out of plastic recovered from the ocean is one more example

green. >> my own direct experience, generally, the buying public will not pay more if it is green. maybe that is something people don't want to hear. it is the honest truth. that is my own direct experience. i think it is absolutely -- what will happen with the current green movement in building, is that it will become standard. it is becoming the standard. ultimately, it will be frowned upon when a house does not have these features, i think. i think that is how it will migrate into society, in that way. it is a good thing. it is becoming an awareness of all of these things, your appliances, your window rating, things like that. it is something that happens over time. people like to talk about it. i have sold properties where they are solar-ready, which means they have all of the equipment installed to bring the solar down, the solar energy from the roof, down into the sub-area, to then transmitted to the electrical outlets and things, but the panel did not get installed yet because maybe the person did not want to spend the extra $20,000 or $30,000. it is a promise it is coming.

the eastern neighborhoods green street plan and designated green streets. we have been working privately to start that project along. and as well we have the historic scott school on tennessee street, which is in a lot of need of restoration but right now we have the idea to put the two out buildings to use as a nursery school and family center. and that group has been fantastic in raising so much money for that and they're also giving us the money for the family center so that will help that project break around this year. so i think that's all i have to say in particular about the project. one thing i do want to speak about is the notification of large projects. i'm kind of confused as to why preapplication for these seems to only be direct neighbors and, you know, notification to the neighborhood association. it seems like there should be a large notification for such large projects and the other thing is in general, my idea about the parapit wall is if a building has a wall and it's flush with the sides of the building, and the building is 64 feet tall

jobs versus the reality of green jobs.hat did you find? >> the president when he was campaigning, we were supposed to a 5 million green jobs in 10 years. governor brown said 500,000 by the end of decade. we said, how many are actually there? we found that there are really not that many. republicans are trying to brush the president because this 1000 green jobs went away. well, that's about one third of all of the solar jobs here in the bay area are you going like that in one day. we are not looking at millions of jobs here. we are looking at thousands of jobs. the story wasn't saying that green is silly. it was saying, don't believe the hype. there are just not that many overall. >> but we have pinned a lot of hopes politically on the green future. every time there is a plant closing, politicians go out and say the future is in green. i question is, we are great at green technology at developing these products, but when it comes to making them, they go to china or brazil. >> one of the companies i spotlighted in the earlie
