nbc 10's ted greenberg joins us on the phone with an update on the situation. ted, what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, renee and jim, we've been at the scene this afternoon along route 206 in shamong township. that area is closed on route 206. we've been watching flames shooting into the air. smoke rising above the trees at the wharton state forest. this was first reported around 2:30 this afternoon. as you mentioned, it quickly consumed about 100 acres, and so far, the fire is not contained. the new jersey forest fire service is trying to battle this fire both on the ground and from the air. using helicopters and planes. we've watched a helicopter scooped up water from atison lake and drop it on the fire. now, state police told us troopers from the red lion station were telling folks who live in the area at about two dozen homes to evacuate. although i just spoke with the spokesman from the new jersey department of environmental protection and he told me that the indication that he's gotten is that that evacuation will be rescinded. so that seems to be en
