improving services with functional paving and greening. the corridor was redesigned as the sunset boulevard, creating a high performing green corridor. dtw, who has already developed these costs for these subjects, the public-private partnership would allow us to retrofit the university's main campus as part of their ongoing capital improvement programs to increase groundwater recharge and provide opportunities for faculty and students to develop educational outreach programs. in summary, we are recommended -- recommending investing in the second decade for a total of $400 million, including the efp project. this is an increase from the 2010 recommendation and is an exciting new chapter. these projects will improve the performance of our system over time and potentially create an enduring legacy. i will break for questions or discussions. >> on the early implementation projects, there is a total of $57 million. what is the status of that? these are being proposed? >> you would be approving the funding. >> you would have seen the funding in

today we will be talking a lot about green infrastructure. this chart lays out the infrastructure against the levels of service and goals. for the most part, they scored very well. we did see higher rankings for greg infrastructure when we talked about compliance flexibility. once something is built, we can add pumps and do a lot of different things. once a piece of green infrastructure is built, it is sized based on certain storm events. we anticipate storms increasing in intensity, so we do have more flexibility with gray. on the other hand, greene offers us a unique opportunity to have public benefits. much of what we build is below the ground. much of it people do not even know is really there. green infrastructure can be on the surface, incorporate storms, screenings, and change neighborhoods, potentially. when we look at green infrastructure, we will also be considering the ancillary benefits. that is why the triple bottom line discussed earlier today is a big deal for us. as we progress through the project concept, we will be coming up

the way this makes it sound, it makes it sound like it is great plus green. -- grey plus green. those are different concepts. i think earlier you said you might consider the grey plus green as those things that green cannot simply accomplish. it feels like we are double counting. we are patting it with extra money is because of the uncertainty around the performance of the green projects. if there is a way of getting, a staging this so that we can make certain decisions -- >> the schedule that we have now for the finished project, we finished the assessment for the end of next year. the planning for the central bayside project is three years. then it goes into two years of design. during that timeframe, we are hopeful to get some of the results from the early implementation projects. we hope to get the regulatory determination so we know what the ultimate target is at the end of the day. one of the other things not to decide on is one of the other reasons that we pick the 30-foot tunnel is because we know we will get it to 10. and in order to be in compliance with existing requi

green point park, the site of the city's world cup stadium, is a green oasis.t's been a few years now since the city disposed of the park's garden waste in dumps. instead it goes to the compost maker. it's a win-win situation, both financially and ecologically. >> this enabled us to save landfill space which, as you know, is very expensive. and we also dont have space for landfills in south africa. we do have space but far away and this would create a lot of driving and obviously add to the carbon emissions and we are very sensitive to this and this is why weve started this program. >> the park makes for huge amounts of garden waste and clippings. workers in the city's green point park trim and snip here every day and their work generates some forty tons of garden waste each month. and they maintain the stadium grounds continuously even though it's only used sporadically at the moment. and this creates still more garden waste. processing this organic waste into compost is better for the climate than letting it slowly rot in dumps, which creates greenhouse gasse
