we're the greenest city in north america. are one of the top five best cities for clean tech and technology companies to invest in. and i can go on and on with those statistics. what i really want to tell you is what has been on my mind for the last couple of weeks, because they have a lot to do with the. it has a lot to do with the challenges that face as a mayor of one of the greatest cities in the world. i want to create new relationships in this city. it is something that i have been gearing -- yearning to do as i watched and helped mayor gavin newsom for the last seven years and release all the goals that he was setting up, the goals of zero waste in our lifetimes. the goal of getting 80% the level of carbon emissions of 1990. and making sure that that could happen in 2015. i went about in my city administrator's job helping him do some of the things he thought was really important. i stepped up to do those electric cars. mayor, can you let me do that? and we're on our way, our goal to 80 to 100 of these battery chargers

city by 2020 below the levels and be a leader in the rest of the world and keep our status as the greenest city in north america wears -- we're going to have to work that much harder and be very focused and dedicated and i want so much to do that for this city, because we want to be and continue to be the leadership of bicycles and alternative travel on our streets. i want to thank our dutch friends for being here, for having invited ed and board president david chiu and so many other leaders to host their way at the look other cities in the netherlands have been increasing bicycle opportunities for everyone to participate. the last time i was in amsterdam was in 1969, council general, and it was in high school where our high school choir was blessed with having an international trip. so i sang on the corners of amsterdam as part of our great high school opening -- awakening of our understanding of europe and how it was related to the united states and i wish i was able to be invited then 42 years ago to ride a bike because in high school that's all i had was a bicycle to junior high and high s

former mayor newsom joined the mayor and others to announce that san francisco is the greenest city inca. they say the city's clean taxi program not only met the goal to reduce the emissions by 20%, but more than doubled the goal. >> we have exceeded the 20% goal and now have a 49% number. >> reporter: with an increase in taxi cabs, newsom listed the benefits as lower gas price photo drivers, lower maintenance costs for companies, and cleaner air audio . >>> and house democrats announcing legislation to make the fruit juices safer, establishing the same limits on lead and arsenic that were to be in drinks. the report followed that 10% of apple and grape juice samples found 10% more lead than in bottled water. >> i can't give up my pure drink, i tried to eat apples -- go natural. >> the juice products association has disputed the accuracy of the consumer reports' test. if the bill passes, the fda would have two years to establish the new standards. >>> and getting the cold hard facts about your health condition is not always so easy. more than half the doctors participating in the study
