because the last remnants of glaciers are in anartica and greenland and there is 250 additional feet of sea-level rise. greenland is melting at an unprecedented rate and there's a huge ice shelf in anartica that is poised to fuel the ocean. if that happens, it will cause sea-level rise just as dropping an ice cube in a glass of water does. the indications are overwhelming of what this issue means for the future of this country. this is not an academic question. here is another example of what is happening in a relatively short period of time. the volume of ice in the arctic ocean has fallen by two-thirds since 1979. a 40-year period. the arctic ocean is more clear today than it has ever been in human history. anybody who says nothing's happening or it's just routine or the weather changes all the time isn't paying attention to the facts. and, again, my concern about this is practical. the cost of sea walls, the cost of shoring up our infrastructure, just the cost to the government of protecting the naval facilities in norfolk. and, of course, one of the problems in the presiding offi

as long as the high-pressure system is in greenland it is a block and the north atlantic oscillationo as long as those are in place we will get rain and snow. when that breaks down the pattern changes but it is not forecasted to break down anytime soon. so late tonight into tomorrow going through the extended outlook , i like what i am seeing. disfavors rain and snow. again, tonight we will get the system coming, not this morning but it will be mild and muggy. another reinforcement comes wednesday night and thursday so each of these is lowering the snow level ramping up the rainfall. we have partly sunny skies this morning but the higher clouds are a ways away. the front will start to come in getting closer and then we get the southerly breeze and that will really make it feel pretty warm. we will be above average but when the cold front slides through and the low gets closer the rainfall is looking good so we will likely have some 3 to 4 inch amounts. it is looking pretty promising and now this year will get snow tomorrow when the winter storm warning comes out 1:00. above the lake
