right now let's go to greg burke streaming live from norway. >> reporter: very interesting and weird picture emerging of the suspect. his lawyer a few minutes ago saying the suspect in his mind, found that these actions were atrocious, but in his mind, necessary. that's what are dealing with. police are searching the suspect's farm in hope putting the pieces together. apparently, the farm was key to his being able to purchase fertilizer used in that very intensive bomb. the suspect was also said to be cooperating with police, which is an important thing. after the island massacre hope is fading that any survivors will be found. there were more than 500 youths at the camp. a camp for the labor party of the a political party here. there are still a handful officially listed as missing. survivors of that massacre described the experience as a nightmare.

greg burke is streaming live for us from rome with the very latest on this. >> reporter: hi, martha. that's right. you know, more and more news just keeps coming out, the latest is that which you mentioned which certainly does make it look like things were coordinated here. as many as five people shot at a youth camp or a youth meeting, sort of a summer camp thing just outside of oslo. also some reports of suspicious packages, one at a tv station, also at the train station. what we do know for sure, a bomb -- a very powerful one or perhaps more -- going off just a few hours ago. at least two dead, at least 15 injured, although those numbers could rise as there are also reports of people being trapped. that's how powerful this bomb was. the prime minister is unhurt, although bomb went off very close to his office right in downtown oslo on market street. you can see from the amount of glass scattered around those streets how much damage it would and could have done. now, it looks like a car bomb although police have not yet confirmed that, in fact, they have not yet confirmed if it was

our correspondent greg burke streaming live now from oslo. greg? >> hi, shep.ell the latest just a short time ago. there was an explosion at breivik's farm north of oslo. it's you will under control. actually police had been looking all through there. they had found explosives. decided the best way to get rid of them was to blow them um. it really gave neighbors a scare. earlier today the suspect's lawyer talking a bit about his client. he says breivik was surprised he made it out to the island. he thought that he would have been shot after the bombing. now, he also thought police would have gotten out to that island where the camp was going on a lot quicker. according to the the lawyer breivik took drugs before the attacks. he didn't say which ones though. he said his client gives every indication that he is insane. it's not clear that that is going to be the line of defense. however, it might be the best way of keeping him in custody for life. the lawyer also claims that breivik wanted to be the savior of europe. >> he said it was necessary to start a war her
