there is every attempt by the republicans in kansas and the roberts campaign in particular to paint greg gormana democrat and to nationalize the election to in essence make greg orman and ally of president obama who is very unpopular in the state of kansas as he is in other places. that is their path to victory to make greg orman the issue and barack obama the issue. the overwhelming response throughout the last several weeks that that's part of the old politics and that's the way things used to be done and i'm a problem solver he says i can go to washington and break the gridlock there. again that does have some people in kansas like that approach because they are concerned about the stalemate in washington that the other problem for pat roberts out here and jerry may have talked about this is pata spent part of government for many years. he is 78 years old and has been an elected office in washington since 1980 and a lot of kansans thank he is what they call he is more about washington and about kansas. ..

pat roberts and his independent challenger greg gorman. here is the exchange.video clip] we havenk the challenge had with this recovery is while we are creating jobs, we are not necessarily creating middle-class jobs. i've talked a lot about how we get this country started again. we've got to get washington back into the business of solving problems. i can't tell you how many business owners i have talked to who have said we need to deal with health care affordability. if we could have an honest and meaningful discussion about how to address health care affordability and change the incentives to drive cost out of the system, we would be in a far better position to create jobs and see wages grow. toor people tell me we need deal with immigration reform. a number of businesses said they would add jobs if we simply got congress and the president to get their act together and pass some sort of immigration reform that gives them certainty. we also had to give the government out of the way. that is why we put forward our small business plan to help get regulations ou

greg orman and further ties orman to the democratic party. that's been one of the main arguments that the campaign from the roberts side which is that gorman is a liberal democrat. he was a democrat hiding behind the cloak of being an independent candidate so they really want to avoid that kind of association. orman from what we can tell anyway is pretty much on his own when it comes to getting the vote out and you wonder how that will affect him. roberts will have the advantage of having a long-established republican machine behind him very well-known for his get out the vote apparatus that helped sam brownback so much four years ago. it should help them again this time around. roberts will be able to bank on that kind of support. orman doesn't have that kind of machine behind him and you wonder how that's going to affect the final vote on election day. >> leslie and i mean this in the most serious way we normally have an election that we have our world series coming back to kansas city. is there any interference? is that a distraction in terms of things like getting airtime for tv spots, political ads and things like that? >> if you watch t
