to give a flavor why we're here at this moment and greg miller of the west wrote a terrific book called "the apprentice," where he lays out flynn's first interview with the fbi. it is immediately after the inauguration. flynn is kind of there again, a little bit cocky, thinks he can maneuver dc, the d.o.j. calls over and says the fbi wants to interview you. and he takes the meeting without lawyers. this begins the lying, you're not allowed to lie to the fbi whether you have a lawyer or not which then unfolds seriously encompassing the trump presidency for the next two years. this began like two days after the inauguration. anyone in flynn's orbit either before the election, during the transition and those few weeks that flynn is the national security adviser is worried. i read this from the national security perspective. yes, there's lots of redactions. there's twos audiences that don't need to read between the lines. first seniors anyone honestly did anything wrong because mueller is clearly saying talk to me early, talk to me often and tell the truth and i will ask for zero of your ti

greg. >> juan: it looks better than stephen miller's hair. >> greg: that is a low bar. >> juan: anyway, ihought the day started off with donald trump wishing might flynn good luck. i thought that's peculiar. what's going on here? and then he says look, i think there is no that strzok and page -- may be deleted evidence and then the reports have said that's not true. i'm thinking what is going on. what's going on is that all of a sudden this has become highly politicized. what's going on with mike flynn in a court of law. you have a judge who is well respected, a judge who, by the way, throughout the conviction of senator ted stevens, a republican, once he found the prosecutors he believed engaged in misconduct. this is not a judge who is any weak willow. this is a strong, competent judge, well respected by both sides. here's the thing. when you say to someone like mike flynn, you sold out your country, jesse, i don't think there's anything more damning than that. this comes from a judge who as you said got the 302. >> jesse: can you explain why did the judge say you sold out your country.

les they become an impediment to growth let's discuss that, we're joined by greg ipp and michael farr president of farr, miller and washington, he is a cnbc contributor. guys, welcome. >> thank you. >> i'm going to ask you, greg, what you think the fed should do based on two things, one is what the economic data are saying, the other is what the markets are telling the fed. what should the fed do today >> the economic data is fairly clear that the case for raising rates is pretty strong i mean, we just saw strong home sales data for november today, we had strong retail sales the committee is performing exactly as the fed expected. now, they are expecting a slowdown next year from what was an unsustainable pace in 2018, so they're not that alarmed that some numbers do point to a slow koun that's supposed to happen. it has to happen we are at a 3.7% unemployment rate unless growth slows down we are headed to 3 and below that and that's an inflationary risk. that said they have to have a little bit of sort of like second guessing of themselves going on right now, given what we're seeing in the markets. you know,
