greg palkot is in johannesburg with the latest. >> reporter: nelson mandela is coming home for the lastody of a man many here consider to be the father of modern day south africa was flown to the rural eastern part of this country where he was born, where he will be buried sunday. there had been flap earlier today, anti-apap tide veteran and mandela friend tutu thought he wasn't invited, said he wasn't going to attend. huge stir over that. now we are told he is coming. mandela's remains were transported on saturday via a hearst in a military procession from an airport in that eastern south africa region to the burial site that is his ancestral village, the locals will line the route hoping to get a glimpse of at least the casket of their late leader. among others attending the funeral, 4500 guests, dignitary, leaders from all over the world, including reverend jesse jackson and u.k.'s prince charles. it will be beamed live via satellite globally, but it will be set in a very basic village and the funeral will be conducted using age old traditions in his ethnic group. and it's not over t

greg palkot leading coverage. greg, you were in south africa six months ago. how are people reacting there? >> reporter: that's right, bill. we were outside the pretoria hospital whereenelson mandela laid gravely ill couple months ago. we saw the outpouring. the scenes we're looking at now from south africa is just the beginning. it will continue. crowds are gathering outside of the johannesburg house where mandela spent last troubling weeks and months. they're marking the passing of the person they can the father of their country. they're mourning and also celebrating the man. his body was taken overnight to a nearby morgue in preparation for the week-long morning period starting with a national day of prayer this coming sunday and ending with burial in the following sunday in the home village. probably no stronger tribute we've heard today from the one-time nemesis of mandel last, f.w. de klerk. he was the last president of south africa under the hated apartheid system but also one who freed him from prison and worked together with him to get rid of it. take

. >> greg palkot is live in london this morning with the very latest. greg? >> reporter: hey, gregg. investigators are still going through the rubble right now. it was quite a scene. imagine you're sitting there enjoying a play and then the ceiling falls on top of you. that is what it was like for many ticketholders of that apollo theater at london's west end, that is the equivalent of new york's broadway. about a half hour into the play running there, kind after noise sir, sound effect filled play, and then a 30-foot wide section of ornate plaster ceiling came crashing down. equivalent of four stories right into that packed orchestra section. we are told by police right now that upwards of '90 people were injured. two of those at least are still hospitalized. first folks thought it was a part of the play. then they realized it was reality. here is a bit more what some eyewitnesses had to say. >> watch out. we thought it was part of the play. >> ceiling came down. a lot of dust, chandelier, wood, landed on about five or six rose. >> reporter: luckily emergenc

greg palkot live from london with more on this developing story. greg? problems in benghazi right now. americans in the gun sight once again. it happened on a main street in the city. we're told between 10:30 and 11 in the morning. teacher ronnie smith was jogging. people were waving to him. he is known in the area. then we're told a black jeep, rode up, gunman shot him through the chest and left him lying in a pool of blood on the street. he was taken away to one of the city's hospitals and there he was declared dead. now according to an administrator of the school that he works, international school of benghazi, he was a chemistry teacher. he was 33 years old. he was from texas and wife and a young son, there for about a year. according to a parent of a student at that school, he was very well-liked by student. he called himself on line, libya's best friend. another person who was called that ironically, ambassador chris stevens. he was of course slain in benghazi in the attack on the u.s. consulate 15 months ago along with three other americans. we in
