gregg palkot live on the curry border with syria. >> reporter: that grinding siege of the syrian town of kobani continues. i'll step aside to give you a sneaky, hazy sight of the front line. we have been hearing and seeing street battles all across this town. isis terrorists duking it out. we have been seeing coalition air strikes in the town. centcom informed me that they staged multiple airstrike on kobani and around kobani. at the very least those airstrikes according to sources are having an effect. turning what looked like an isis rout into a deadly standoff. but the kurdish defenders have much the underdogs. outmanned and outgunned by the terrorists. we are told isis is using car and truck bombs. in the kurds fave, a lot of local knowledge and a whole lot of the guts. they may be get something more help from turkey. over the weekend it has been reported ankara officials have agreed to allow their air bases to be used by the coalition to launch these bombing runs against isis in syria and iraq and they will be training something like 4,000 moderate syrian rebels to go up against

gregg palkot is live on the turkey-syria border with the latest. >> reporter: we are back here near the he center with the battle with isis. we are two miles away from the town of kobani. there have been developments since we last talked to you. we'll give and your viewers a tour of the battlefield. where we showed you those isis flags on the left side, that's the eastern side of the city. we believe isis was there and had a good strong hold. that's been confirmed today. over the center of the city where we reported so much heavy fighting it's eerily quite. it might mean that isis has moved in over there. now, over to the western side of the city you can see the smoke coming up just over those hills. that's where the battle is now. that's where we have been hearing small arms fire and artillery. give the way. you see a turkish military chief and a building. we see a lot of tanks around here, too. they are doing nothing at all. let's go back to a few pictures we shot a short while ago. weep believe we saw at least one, maybe more is very car or truck bomb hitting kurdish locations. huge

gregg palkot is on that border with syria and isis. >> reporter: there are reports the black isis flag is flying on a building in the city. the fighing is continuing today. we have been pushed back from the syrian town of kobani over there. you can see the plume of explosion from the impact. you can hear it right now between the isis terrorists and the brave kurdish defenders. as we watch all this action over there we are also watching some tanks of the turkish military lining up over on that side on that hillside with their trained on the town, ready to move in if they decide to. we estimate 2,000 to 3,000 kurdish fighters and family and supporters and also with weapons and ammunition running low, they are in a desperate way. over the week thrnld was a female kurdish suicide bomb attack against isis. we can only confirm one round despite the fact over several days we have been reporting we have seen sighs * tanks and the muzzle fire of isis guns. the turkish tanks are in defensive mode. whether they will be offensive we don't turn ski seems to be reluctant to get into this fight. bill
