speak with the director of "great miss world," cecillia peck, daughter of the legendary actor gregory peck. all of that and more coming up. this is "democracy now!," democracynow.org, the war and peace report. i'm amy goodman. united nations investigators are calling for syrian leaders suspected of murder and torture in the country's bloody crisis to face charges at the international criminal court. the latest findings by investigators probing the conflict accuse both sides of war crimes over six-month time frame ending last month. seven massacres or identified during that time -- five of them by government forces and two by rebels seeking the ouster of president bashar al-assad. u.n. investigator carla del ponte spoke at a news conference monday in geneva. >> we were able to identify high level perpetrators [indiscernible] what we need is a tribunal conducting formal investigations and be able to show an indictment against the perpetrators. >> the united nations has more than 70,000 people have been killed since the uprising against the sun began in march 2011. on monday, european leaders

we said, how would you film the gettysburg address that would be different from say gregory peck's presentation and the blue and grey or sam waters whispering at the railroad station and gore vidal's lincoln and they went on this flight of imagination, a camera back at the end of the crowd leaves falling from the trees in november,, wind up scaring the word and not everyone paying attention. and only then, maybe at at the last minute would there be a huge close-up of lincoln's face and you hear the word. this made it all worthwhile. rather than listening to each other because we just heard the difference between a screenwriter and the director and mere chroniclers of fact. but then the next thing that happened obviously is that dreamworks and disney asked me this summer or early in the summer to do a young reader's companion book and sort of expand on the evolution of lincoln's views on opportunity and quality and they did a fall. it was a flip-flopper in that sense of the words that i was a privilege too. >> after i think that i had a first draft, sometime after the first draft we contacted yo
