and michelle griego, live in from new orleans.super bowl 47. >>> good morning. tuesday, january 29. i'm frank mallicoat. and our michelle griego live in new orleans. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, frank. it's a nice foggy morning. it's starting to get a little warmer out here. so that's good. and hey, some good news. we have seen some football fans trickling in to the city right now. we told you for the last couple of days that mardi gras has been put on hold at least for this week. and then next week, they are going to they will get back to the festivities. this is how they do it in new orleans. bourbon is popular when it comes to mardi gras festivities. it was amazing walking down the street seeing the street littered with so much trash, so many beads, it was hard to walk in certain areas. most amazing is in the morning it looks completely different. those crews are getting out working hard. they clean up all the mess in this city and it just looks like there was never a party out on the streets. pretty amazing. they a

investigators say griego lifted his dead mother's head and showed it to the 9-year-old before killing him as well. investigators say his 5-year-old sister jaelle and the youngest member of the family, a 2-year-old angelina were next. at this point, he changed weapons and waited hours until his father greg came home. detectives say the one-time gang member and now pastor was shot in the back and killed with his own ar-15. investigators believe the boy wasn't done yet, saying he reloaded the ar-15 and the .22-caliber rifle and put them with more ammo into the family minivan. investigators say he wanted to come to this walmart. why? according to the criminal complaint, to murder more people in a populated area, and then die in a gun fight with police. but for some reason, the teen changed his mind and instead drove to his family's church. he left the guns in the van and went inside. he spent the day like an average teenager, hanging out with his girlfriend at the church's skatepark, the basketball court, and the book store. the first sign of trouble at the megachurch is when the pastor w

michelle griego is off. >> hi, everyone. i'm frank mallicoat. it is 6:30.police are looking for several suspects in a deadly stabbing. >> it is the city's third homicide of the year and cbs 5 reporter elissa harrington live at the police department with more on this crime. >> reporter: the third homicide of the year but the second within two days. police don't know motives for either of these and have made no arrests. the latest victim a man in his 30s. he was stabbed to death last night. police were called just before 8:30. they say that the victim was outside an apartment complex off monterey highway in the kenwood neighborhood when a group of men attacked him stabbing him repeatedly. the victim was taken to the hospital where he later died. this violence came just one day after a woman was shot and killed in her condo near tully road. 43-year-old woman leaves behind two children. police haven't made any arrests in the murders. as for last night they are searching for four suspects who ran from the scene. >> it's very vague at this point. four males possi

i'm frank mallicoat. >> i'm michelle griego. it coming just before a tanker scraped a tower on the bay bridge. cbs 5 reporter anne makovec over at treasure island reporting the pilot got a warning a little too late. >> reporter: good morning. yeah, that coast guard just confirmed that its vessel traffic service sent that warning to the pilot just moments before the vessel that you can see there behind me scraped the bay bridge on monday morning. that ship is called the overseas reymar. and it's been anchored off treasure island since monday. it turns out the man who was at the helm had had a few accidents in the past, as well. captain guy kleess was involved in three previous scrapes all of them minor. back in august 2009 his ship was briefly grounded in the sacramento river two days later damaged a dock at the port of stockton. and then in may of 2010, he was supervising a trainee on a tugboat that hit bottom in richmond's harbor. the investigation into what happened here is still under way. >> we're looking at the vessel itsel
