we still do not have a grocery store in the tenderloin. this market has been a central part of being able to serve our residence in the neighborhood. we're so grateful this happens here every wednesday. our office is always out here getting food and buying groceries as well. since my time on the board of education, food equity has been a very important issue. we know it is one of the reasons why not all kids succeed in classes. we talk about improving performance in school buildings, a lot of it is also the opportunities that young people come into the classrooms with. food is one of them. when i was at the school district, we worked to find spaces in our grants to sponsored school gardens so that our kids can learn about nutrition and fresh foods. it is amazing to visit the schools. the kids know more than i do about identifying seeds, leaves, and all of those things. i am really proud to be year today. 30 more years for the market. the board of supervisors also has a proclamation honoring the 30th anniversary festival. in recognition of

actually independent grocery stores. speaking today, in regards to the ordinance that given the changes that are being made to the ordinance not only today but overall, we feel as an industry that we're actually comfortable implementing such an ordinance. we're one of the few sfris that was included in the 2007 ordinance and while that was ground breaking in many ways and did create a tremendous amount of environmental gain there were some unintended consequences of that for us as retailers. consumers not moving towards to create that environmental gain but continuing to choose free paper bags. so, not only did that cause an environmental concern, but a tremendous additional cost for groceries. so with that we appreciate the ordinance in front of you today. we are currently as an industry tracking about a hundred ordinances of this type being discussed throughout california. about 50 or so local jurisdictions are actually in a form process to move forward with that. and you will be bringing yourself very much in line wit

if somebody says hey, i have a bunch of groceries, i feel a little unsafe, it's a little dark during these winter months and they need maybe an escort to their cars or hopefully the bicycle racks or to where the ultimate park. i want to thank the community ambassadors because they know that working alongside our officers, they're community folks. they want their they're wrong folks that they live with feeling safe as well. they will be multi legal. multi-cultural. they will be extra sensitive. those announcements i want to make today along with the opening of pearl posted the luxembourgers, and hopefully, all of you will get a chance to have a burger if the lines are not too long. when you get it, you can either each year or join all of us at the latin dance. it starts at noon. you can walk with the ambassadors all day long, too. they get a good work out as well. those are the things we are announcing today, but there is a lot of fights. these are just milestones of things that have been in place. i want to thank all of the residents who have been here. they continue to be patient. t
