i live in the north panhandle neighborhood, two blocks from grove. i am a bicyclist. i am a car driver. i am a pedestrian. and every now and then i take the 43 masonic bus. i think i avail myself of all transportation options. and i think this is an excellent plan. i will speak first as a bicyclist. i have been living in the neighborhood 15 years. and during that time bicycle transportation has definitely improved a lot. and i thank you for your part in that. i now have great ways to go east, south and west. unfortunately north the only real way to go is masonic. and as others have mentioned, it's unsafe and scary. i too ride on the sidewalk at night. i don't like riding on the sidewalk, but i do not want to take my life into my hands. so you will probably hear from plenty of people telling you it's necessary for cyclists. that's a no-brainer. as a car driver i have to go that way sometimes. and as was mentioned in the presentation [bell] it's a very short stretch. if traffic slows down it's not going to significantly reduce people's travel time. and frankly, i would

thanks to the stern grove association they renovated the concert meadow. it used to be a rolling grafsy area. put in a new stage and stage building. they put in terraces. we get from 8,000 to 12,000 people. and the meadow next to the concert meadow is full of people even though they can't see the music they hear it. i walked into the meadow several times and they don't even care. we do have literally events going on day and night. the concert association has kids days during the week. the performers come out for hundred 200 kids. now, the truckadero truck house gets rented out for weddings and retirement. the croquet clubs and horse shoes. 2 play grounds, tennis courts. we have from 25 to a hundred dogs here. it's like bisons going across the mid west. there are so many dogs they are covering the ground cht it's a get together. all the dog walkers know each other. if you go to pine lake day camp now, you will see 50 kids there. the r directors are wonder. >> the pine lake is natural. they take of the area around the lake. they plant natives that are drough

on pre-concert setup, and entire grove -- an entire grove of trees was taken up by trucks.et the vehicles out from under the trees. trees were routinely parked next to the trees on top of sensitive root areas. a camper was parked in the park, and it looked very much like someone was living there. i think you need to check the permit. a tour through the concert site showed that the interior forest was used for vehicles, and pads were pretty much ground -- paths were pretty much ground to dust. there is some good news -- airways were built into the concert area, which is an excellent idea for protecting vegetation. i would say from the number of food and vendor booths one could conclude that the opportunities for income might come as much from vendor sales as ticket sales, and with all due respect, i think you might need to check into it and the next time you negotiate a contract, you might find out more about that. you will see that the polo field, which is newly renovated, is very brown. i hope it recovers quickly. page six, unfortunately, there were not adequate porta-pott

it has a lot of hills, there's a lot of dense groves. once you get towards the center of the park you really lose your orientation. you are very much in a remote area. there are a lot of trees that shield your view from the urban setting. you would simply see different groves that gives you a sense of freedom, of being outdoors, not being burdened by the worries of city life. john mclaren had said that golden gate park was too far away. he proposed that we have a park in the south end of the city. the campaign slogan was, people need this open space. one of the things that had to open is there were a lot of people who did a homestead here, about 25 different families. their property had to be bought up. so it took from 1928 to 1957 to buy up all the parcels of land that ended up in this 317 acres. the park, as a general rule, is heavily used in the mornings and the evenings. one of the favorite places is up by the upper reservoir because dogs get to go swim. it's extremely popular. many fights in the city, as you know, about dogs in park
