uber has the better shot at buying grubhub that it has in buying lyft.re a sense that we were not that we will not see a -- what does that mean in terms of the spending and investment uber makes in that side of the business? is this the beginning of more of a permanent restructuring? >> yeah. they have already cut about 14% of the workforce. lyft also has. they expect a recovery to be slow here. you are not going to see a v-shaped bounce where volume goes back to where it was last year. consumers with social distancing and all of the other measures are not going to be in effect at least for the major cash remainder of this year. companies will have to curtail, but at the end of the day the margins are going to remain. given these companies were not profitable to begin with, it keeps adding to the liquidity pressure i mentioned. analyst forenior bloomberg intelligence with the latest on uber and grubhub. pnc financial is set to raise roughly $14 million after selling its stake in block rock -- in blackrock. the sale banks will benefit to the tune of $240

uber making a move for grubhub. grubhub is soaring and so is uber.t is potentially the deal that saves uber and makes up for lost revenue given that uber is a different composition following the coronavirus pandemic. usr restaurant brands is making a big play for coffee shops in china. this is on the day we are learning luck and coffee is firing at siena -- firing its ceo. lucken and tencent had been in the deal to expand in china. tencent is giving that back into qsr. restaurant brands international making a big play for china. guy: let's talk about what is happening in the world from a foreign-exchange point of view. europe trying to figure out how it can reopen its economy, transit in a coordinated way, and figure out how to stimulate the economy. a similar problem around the world. let's talk about how you handicapped that from a foreign-exchange point of view. joining me as jeremy stretched, head of fx strategy cibc. i am trying to find how the markets approach the different ways different economies are likely to reopen and how you handicap that

we heard uber was in talks to buy grubhub.ket was excited about the deal and the stock is lower after news that if they cannot find a deal, they could call off talks altogether. flipping up the board, we know uber eats position and overall uber bookings growth grew more than 50% in the first quarter. that was the saving grace given ridesharing fell for the first time ever last quarter. the rates business is competitive and it is being subsidized because everyone wants to gain market share. in that way, it is cash intensive. that is why the market was excited about some potential consolidation. flipping up the board again, with cash burn we know uber did have a lot of cash on their balance sheet. our analysts are saying there could be $11 billion in cash by the end of the year. aboutlso yesterday raised $900 million in cash from bonds, and the bond documents did say the bond proceeds could go to acquisitions or other corporate purchases, so that further fuels speculation. we did hear part of the deal, grubhub went back to for a
