right now new evidence is surfacing of hundreds of thousands of dollars in bonuses going to gsa officials suspected of misconduct. investigator reporter russ is here. to be clear, all this is in addition to the bonuses that you covered last week. >> matt, you're right on. here's the issue. did the government pay bonuses as much as tens of thousands of dollars each to individual gsa workers accused of bad performance, or even worse, possibly crime? the latest report indicates the five we identified in our investigation may be symptomatic of a much larger trend year after year paying out performance bonuses to gsa workers while they were suspected of wrong doing. the gsa scandal falled by those music videos lampooning easy government cash gained new traction last week when our investigation uncovered bonus money. documents we obtained under the freedom of information act indicated the gsa paid out over a half million dollars in fiscal year 2012 bonus money to high ranking executives. the bonuses, about $10,000 apiece, included bonuses to five executives placed on leave in connection with th

mostly supervisors, higher end government employees with the gsa.fter year. one supervisor, for instance, got nearly $8,000 bonus every year from 2008 until now, a total of $38,000. even though the same person had to be reassigned for abuse of authority. another supervisor who was reprimanded for dealing with a government investigation got 20 grand in bonuses. 84 different employees at the gsa all subject of investigations got bonuses. as for why, that's what senator claire mccaskill among others are asking. she's heading one of the investigations into it. >> do they have any kind of policy that -- i mean, it seems outrageous. it's hard to believe it's true. is the gsa admitting this? i mean do they admit this happened? >> yeah. they do admit it happened. the bonuses were paid to people under investigation. that's a fact. the new acting gsa administrator, we're told, is not taking this lightly. a spokesperson from the agency says a top down review of all the agencies, business is underway and that includes all bonus payouts in recent years. speciall

the gsa. the house oversight committee says documents show $750,000 in travel expenses for about 100 officials assigned to work from home. internal e-mails show even former gsa commissioner jeff neeley was shocked about this. you remember that hot tub picture, the man at the center of that lavish conference in vegas on the taxpayers' dime. molly henneberg following the story for us from washington. it appears from the documents that kneelly only found out about these travel expenses last fall. what did he say about them? >> he was a bit worried about them, according to e-mails that were included in gsa documents that were provided to the house oversight committee. he wrote in an e-mail saying, quote, omg, this is a fine mess we've gotten ourselves into. then he suspect details of the overspending to other colleagues and wrote, quote, this will take your breath away. don't share further. the irony of those e-mails is not lost on republican congressman darryl issa, the chairman of the oversight
