>> yes, shery, out here into northern portions of hainan, in southern portions of guangdong, at thise, should be expecting very gusty winds. we have seen this storm system already come on shore out here. about 40,000 people have been told to evacuate ahead of it. anybody that is currently being impacted by this, especially in northern hainan, a large city of about 830,000 people in haikou there at this time are definitely seeing typhoon-strength winds, 140 kilometers per hour, likely much higher than that. gusts are estimated around the center of circulation to be 230 to 235 kilometers per hour. this could cause widespread power outages, flying debris as well, and not just that, but also the heavy rainfall. this is the latest visible satellite imagery. a really circular eye forms in here, and that is clear and indicative of a strengthening and a very strong typhoon. so, we really want to watch closely on this one. it is still expected to track off here towards the northwest across southern guangdong, pushing into northern vietnam, bringing some gusty winds out here but also heavy rai

and people in guangdong continued to clean up the debris left behind by the worst storm to hit the region in 40 years. rammasun slammed ashore late last week, killing 18, leaving over $2 billion in damage and a coastal port city, nearly 300 boats sunk or took damage while taking refuge from high waves. and at least 11,000 homes were destroyed or damaged in the extreme winds. typhoon rammasun also swept through the philippines last week, killing over 100, leaving thousands homeless. let's turn our focus back toward motmo now, and this is going to be something we'll be watching out for as we go through the overnight period tuesday into wednesday. that's when landfall in taiwan is expected, but already the impacts have begun. moving north-northwest at 30 kilometers per hour with gusts up to 180. the track will continue to move along the eastern portions of china going throughout the rest of the week, and we're talking about a lot of rainfall. some areas may see up to 360 millimeters of rain just in a 24-hour period. part of the reason's all that moisture being dragged in. and this is going t

after i am grating from guangdong china as a toddler, nancy learned valuable lessv ons from her hard working parents and extended family. neighbors and mentors, she is really humble. it is important to acknowledge her leadership. she credits her own leadership from lessons learned from treasured teachers and professors at st. mary's school, lowell high school, san francisco state, u.c. berkeley, and from many other places. and i think she adds four special ingredients into her success. one is character, two is integrity, three is grace, and four is tremendous amount of heart. nancy's commitment to community and volunteering is well known among i think a lot of chinese americans, asian americans, and within the early care and education community as well. she served on a number of boards and councils and commissions. i know her as the first five commissioner, but at st. mary's school, san francisco developmentally disabled council, the arc of san francisco, san francisco school districts community advisory council on special education, i know how hard that one must have been. also timi
