let's go back to guerneville now and bring in nbc's jodi hernandez. >> reporter: we're in guerneville where folks are dealing with quite a mess. folks here say they got about 3 feet of water in four hours last night, causing some pretty significant flooding in the streets and a lot of mud. now, the water has subsided quite a bit. but as you can see, there's still a lot of it out here. now, folks tell me they actually didn't expect it to be this bad. but they say nearby five creek overflowed, and the county has not maintained that creek the way they say they should. so they say that flooding is happening quicker and quicker over the last several years. again, this is what folks woke up to this morning. the school district closed school for the day because there was so much mud in the parking lot, it was dangerous. i'm told school will reopen tomorrow. folks deal with this kind of flooding every year, but i'll tell you, it never gets easy, and it is never pleasant, and it will likely take days to dry out. in guerneville, i'm jodi hernandez, nbc bay area news. >> jodi, thank you. jodi's

a little bit further up the road in guerneville. at some of the flooding up in guerneville, which for reference is about 20 miles northwest of santa rosa. this video was taken right around 230. this morning. you can see the water rushing by right in front of people's homes, and you can also see it filling the front yards of certain homes as well. that's why around 1:00 this morning, the sonoma sheriff and members of the sonoma county fire department had to go door to door to alert people that fife creek had breached its banks and was flooding the small community north of downtown. residents were told to prepare to evacuate , but one local tells us this wasn't the first time to me, this is just pure negligence on the part of the state. >> uh- for not rectifying the situation. many years ago. it's not like this doesn't happen all the time. it does happen all the time. when it rains, when we have a rainy season, even a short rain like this, this is not a this is not a heavy rain. this is nothing but look >> in response to the flooding,

localized flooding in areas like on to rio in guerneville. we've got will tran on his way up to the scene and he's going to be giving us a live look here in just a few minutes. radar does show you a lot of snow in the sierra, nevada and most of that heavy rainfall now moving out to the east and the south. we are still seeing some active spots on the radar for areas like san jose now towards santa clara, sunnyvale, as well as on up towards milpitas. but you'll notice a lot of the bay has quieted down a little bit. we'll still continue to see spotty showers, but a little bit of good news for our of us as we're getting up this morning as we are starting to see that activity, diminishing just a bit. current temps are mostly in the mid 50's. so get those rain jackets on. that should be about the only layer additional air that you need this morning. spotty showers and the chance of a roll of thunder or 2 this afternoon. i'll be keeping you updated as we go. brittany begley in this morning with a look what's the you know, the roads are wet mess. we'
