they issued a traffic alert for highway 9 shut down in both directions from redwood gulch to highway 85. we have crews all over the bay area on storm watch this morning including anne makovec live in san francisco with a problem spot there. good morning, anne. >> reporter: good morning, elizabeth. looks like the rain overnight was just enough to call off the weakest of the weak when it comes to trees. we found this tree. 19th and holloway close to san francisco state here in san francisco. it's kind of a mess of branches but looks like a large part of the tree fell off and the tree itself appears to be compromised because it's all being held up right now as you can see there with yellow caution tape. authorities were able to do that until the department of public works comes in later on this morning to take care of that tree. so he nothing serious, nothing -- so nothing serious, nothing block 19 before the traffic starts. it's clear out here ready for the next batch of rain to come in, sounds like this afternoon. back to you guys. >> thank you. >>> a missing person case has some extr

this photograph was taken at the bear gulch site. work has already been completed. construction activity is 24% complete. i recently attended a few construction meetings to verify everything was on track and i'm pleased to report no major issues so far that would require management involvement. the work now is focusing on the massive excavation and the wall that will be needed to build the 11 million gallon reservoir. we are proceeding with the demolition of the sedimentation basin as we speak. as of mid october, work on crystal springs number to in south san francisco was completed and was successfully put back in service. we're beginning work in hillsboro, adjacent to some very affluent areas and sensitive creek habitats. to deal with doing work in such busy urban area, we're being very proactive with our public outreach by involving all impacted businesses, homeowners as well as city staff, keeping them up to date on our activities. the project has its own twitter account and blog which receives a lot of traffic and it is a great way to communicate. construction

visitation valley, gulch and excelsor neighborhoods. for the past 12 or 13 years, i've been heavily dependent on muni not only for five days of school but also on weekends for chinese school. it usually takes me 45 minutes to an hour to get to school. without transportation, it is impossible to get to school because it serves as my lifeline as a school bus. i am also one of the four daughters with my family. and while some other families have to pay for one fast pass, my mom struggles to afford transit for each of my siblings. two years ago, it would cost $40 for a fast pass but today it costs $84. and an increase of $44 which is a lot every month. so for a couple long periods of time, my mom is the only one supporting for the family of six. my parents are low income. and i have been receiving free school lunch since kindergarten. youth rely on public transit as their primary transportation. youth make up 15% of muni riders. and about 60% of u.s.d. students are receiving few or frufede lunch. -- or reduced lunch. parents are not making
