it's moving on shore on the gulf coast.hat's where the center is, but look at the showers and how they extend far from this storm. there's a lot of moisture in the atmosphere and that's going to start trending toward our area for tomorrow. this is the latest from cindy. cindy now has winds of 45 miles per hour. as it makes landfall it will weaken more. those winds will be down to 35 miles per hour. you can see the path, the center of the storm takes and the center of the storm is going to be into tennessee and kentucky by friday evening. but remember how i showed you how far in advance that rain is moving from cindy's center? well, the same thing is going to be true tomorrow. so tomorrow we'll see that wet weather extend into our area from cindy even though the center is nowhere near us at that time. today a break from the showers but thunderstorms bt will be cl degrees this afternoon. humidity increases tomorrow. a storm chance tomorrow a possibility of severe weather in om cindy comes into play. 88 degrees on friday. and

cindy is a tropical storm and it's still just barely and making landfall in the gulf coast this morning but spreading a lot of moisture and some of that is destined to our area for tomorrow. i'll take a look at that potential when i'm back in ten minutes but first jessica boyington watching your first alert traffic. >> right here we have all northbound lanes of route 55 out in franklin township shut down. that's because there was a pickup truck and dump truck collision. one of those vehicles caught on fire. there's a fuel spill there as well and the accident is a deadly accident scene there as well. so an accident investigation is underway and we know the closure points as well. they're forcing off all traffic right around garden road. the accident happened near route 40. that's exit 39. so a little bit a ways a way. onceou get off you can take a right on garden road, head down to route 47 and it will take you pretty much directly parallel to route 55. once you head up to route 322 you can make a left and then you can get back on to route 55 northbound around exit 50. so that's your bes

[laughter] >> it's not looking sweet. let's go over to dave murphy. he's got accuweather and karen . >> around here no trouble right now. webe little sprinkle way down in delaware, perhaps catching south jersey around cape may but that's notsy pretty quickly. overall we're expecting partly sunny skies today. it's a bit warm to start out across most of the region. in philadelphia we're at 72. 70 in trenton. 68 in wilmington. up north in reading and to 60 so comfortable there and 70 in cape may. i'll point out that the humidity is still rather high in that southern area highlighted in darker shades of green where you've got dewpoints near 70. somewhat oppe humidity but those levels are expected to drop off as we go later into the day. 72 degrees by 7 o'clock. 84 by noon. your high today is going to be 87 at 3 o'clock. humidity levels on the lower side. 85 by 5 o'clock and by 7 o'clock

flash flooding on the gulf coast. that's the main impact of this storm. very heavy rainfall. fresh water from all that rain as it crawls off to the north and northwest over the next kurple of days. be cautious of any flood flooding and be alert of any flash flood warning mts the heaviest in and around new orleans. of course, a tough time draining that water in new orleans. the other story continues. the heat in the southwest. temperatures just about as hot as they were yesterday. a lot of records challenging a slight cooldown at the end of the week by friday. fewer record highs will be set, but still very hot, right on through the workweek and into the weekend. i'm meteorologist eric fisher for cbs news. >>> that scorching southwest heat eric talked about forced dozens of flight cancellations in phoenix and strained the power grid. about 50 flights were canceled yesterday in phoenix because it was too hot for the planes to on wrat. >>> california firefighters are battling a fire in the mountains each los angeles angeles. 1,200 acres have been burned. the fire is contained. >>
