and we're already talking our first system dropping down from the gulf of alaska. this is usually something we talk little bit later in the year as we move into sunday showers move in from the west pushing on into monday, likely to and even the potential of a couple of sprinkles still hanging out with us into tuesday. sunday's rainfall could amount to anywhere from a half an inch of rain for most areas to upwards of an inch of rain in some of our north bay hills, santa rosa nearing that inch of rain by the finished the day on sunday areas like san jose hayward closer to a 10th of an inch san francisco around a 3rd of an inch. you add on top of that, what we could see monday and you've got santa rosa over 2 inches of rainfall while most of the rest of us closer to a half an inch, if not a 10th of an inch of rain. so lighter amounts further southward. but the north bay hills could really be the big rain winners out of all of this. as for today, it's 60 70's for san francisco 60's at the coast. and then we've got consistent 70's elsewhere, foster city down to redwood c

you can see it there in the gulf of alaska. now beginning to move in that big batch of white clouds starting to work its way toward california. that is going to be sliding in here in our direction in the next 24 hours, beginning to move off the coastline. nothing there just jet, but it is going to be moving in late tomorrow night and into sunday. you can see it on the forecast models we get late tomorrow afternoon. that system swings off the coastline. expect increasing clouds throughout the day. the winds will likely also be on the increase and then that storm system comes on shore late saturday night into sunday morning. it is going to pack a punch when it comes through. expect some heavy rainfall across parts of the bay area, especially along the coastline and just inside the bay. and that's going to continue to spin around more moisture kind of on and off right through late sunday into monday. and if we're lucky possibly into tuesday as well. and so i think and we start adding up some totals from this storm system around the

area of low pressure, right off shore and came from the gulf of alaska. brought cool temperatures with all these wet conditions that we are taking a look at now. still, a lot of water vapor there just in the atmosphere alone. hard to believe as we look at mostly sunny skies maybe partly cloudy conditions. really, heading into this afternoon and 1st alert doppler will light up with random storms throughout the bay area. you see the circulation pushing its way in from the area of low pressure. light and scattered showers trickling just into south bay this evening and impacting some of us. as we go into afternoon and science behind this. we will see lots of heat rise. that pushes into the atmosphere and allows instability with more pop-up storms happen. not out of the clear yet. be careful as we go into afternoon. i'll show you two different models here. we continue to see storms pop up. they will become more intense as we get to the daytime portions where we are at daytime highs. as we extend into 2:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. hour and maybe heavier pockets pushing

developing storms in the gulf of alaska bringing them to us. that looks better than it did in the forecast run from this model one hour ago which means it is going back and forth. we will not take either one as definite but the fact that it is consistently showing a chance for the rain for the last 18 hours tells us for sunday we have a chance for light rain and then early next week that right there why tuesday shows us the complete opposite. which would be the offshore wind event. both of those are very fall like so we will take the rain but we don't want offshore wind. we do have a little bit of light rain sunday so you can see that showing up the second half of the weekend and monday and tuesday clouds stick around with offshore wind picking up on the microclimate you will see the same story. clouds are increasing with may be rain, much more on that to the next day and a half, getting specific on the likelihood of rain for the sunday time frame and then what will probably be a bigger concern is where we have this offshore wind event tuesday?

now and really coming down on the gulf of alaska back. alaska is getting pounded by a major storm headed their way. we're going to just see the clouds now off the coastline of california. doppler not quite picking up any rain drop just yet, but that will soon change. the storm system expected to move on shore by tomorrow night. most of the day tomorrow will be dry late tomorrow night into early sunday morning. that's where the storm system really comes on shore. expect rounds of heavy rainfall around the bay area, then kind of on and off really for a couple of days before things are likely going to settle down before the court. that low begins to move on shore. that means rainfall amounts likely to be impressive. if you've got plans this weekend, probably good idea to get out there and do it on saturday by sunday. we're talking about some heavy rainfall moving into the possibility of some thunderstorms. this all works out the last weekend of summer. we're talking about a storm system that could produce as much as one. maybe 3 inches of rai
