it is pulling the centers of them to the gulf of alaska. what does it do for rainfall totals for us? it will be equal. just about everywhere bay area wide. in fact, you might see some opposite stuff like look at santa rosa at 9/10th of an inch of rain. we will get close to that in san francisco. the east bay, the peninsula, looking at the numbers for san mateo. just as much as santa rosa. you can see 8/10th of an inch for san jose. if anything, that number might come out lower. this resolution on the model it might miss the fact that the santa cruz mountains will miss it. this is not the kind of system that we will see like creeks and streams. we could have minor ponding on the roadways. clogged gutters, it will be more than the system that came through yesterday. it will get windy. you will see that show up right here. it gets us to 9:00, 10:00, 11:00 in the morning. then the cold front coming through and the wind comes down. there is a wind advisory. national weather service extended the coverage of it, actually, just since 6:00. san jose

it's getting sheared, the center pulled up to the gulf of alaska. ll see the center of the low there. we're getting the southern little part of the front that is getting kind of slung through and as a result, it's got that really unique orientation to it like the little tail end of the whip trying to get pulled back into the system. we don't often get storms that come in this way, with that kind of orientation north to south. look what it's going to do for rainfall totals. we'll get close to an inch for many communities, but normally you're way above the rest of the bay, not with this storm. everybody will be pretty much in line. we'll get about 0.8-inch of rain in the city and probably only three-quarters in san jose. there will be a bit of rain shadow as this stuff hits the santa cruz mountains, but the santa cruz mountains will get heavier rainfall amounts than the last couple systems from this. there's no major flooding concerns on a landscape level, but streets, poorly draining gutters, the possibility of roadway ponding tomorrow morning and it'

we still have these storms out there that have been developing the gulf of alaska. so far most of those storms have been taken focus up in the pacific northwest. they've seen that atmospheric river. they've had to deal with some flooding concerns. well, that may begin to shift this direction toward the bay area. late in the weekend into next week. right now, though, high pressure will build in. that will bring with it. some nice weather tomorrow. dry conditions again, some passing high clouds after a couple patches of fog break up in the early morning hours. want to show you this long range forecast model tomorrow doesn't look too bad. looks like we'll have some dry condition. you can see all that energy from the next storm. so well to the north and again, moving up in the pacific northwest. but then you see that little swirl developing off the coastline. that's what we call a cutoff low. that's going start spinning off the coast by friday. now it looks like it's going to begin to approach the bay area late on saturday into sunday, bringing with it a chance of rain.

that's we start to see the storms come right out the gulf of alaska. this is called a cut off low. e are very difficult to forecast to kind of bounce between pressure system. so this one looks like it will bring that chance of rain as we head through the weekend. tomorrow looks okay. i think tomorrow if you want to get out there and enjoy, feel pretty good. that will be a dry day for tomorrow. after that things begin to change models. start to pick up on that to you see right here. clouds starting to roll on in and there you go. tomorrow doesn't look too bad. but by sunday, yeah. chance of rain in the morning. see the rain picking up there. i think even more impressive as we get toward latter part of the day. so the first part of the storm system moving probably more scattered showers. i think on sunday, i monday we could be dealing with some heavy rainfall, unfortunately, right for the commute on monday morning. that could be a mess flooding concerns with 0, no, i don't think flooding but if you're out on the roadways and you got a lot of the road, you know, ponding out there on th

the gulf of alaska. they come from the northwest to move toward the southeast. but this storm system because that area of low pressure actually wrap of that moisture up in the south here, actually seeing some of that rain come up to san jose making its way back in the san francisco and parts of the east bay in the north bay moving in that direction. we're going to see that throughout the night tonight. what's more wraparound showers, but really parts of a southern california. they're taking the brunt of this. now there's advisories for watches and warnings and a lot of rain falling in those areas to watch in parts of the southern half of the slain us valley looking for the possibility of some flooding there as well. and it's going continue all the way to southern california. the storm system is going to drag further south. so if you do plan to head to southern california here in the next 24 to 36 hours, be prepared for some rain and the possibility of some flooding. there looks like overall, though, boy, a nice shot of rain for the bay area. the last 24 hours, al

but this a really impressive storm or deep low up in the gulf of alaska generating this front, making mainly up in the pacific northwest gets very heavy rainfall of it. in fact, lot of rivers there now look at the possibility. some flooding. there are flood watches advisories and warnings posted all across much of washington into oregon where they've seen tremendous amounts of rain and a lot more to come. oregon also seeing tremendous amounts of rain and they're dealing with some flooding issues as well. and even northern california may get into. we could see upwards of 2, maybe 5 inches of rain in parts of the coastal sections of northern california. then you see the areas in purple. those are snow advisories up in the high country. so the frontal system going to make its way on through enforcing weren't catching the southern edge of it. packed a little pop as it comes through about the midcle of the day tomorrow, bringing with it some decent amounts of rain, not huge amounts, not flooding rains here in the bay area are talking about maybe a quarter, maybe a 3rd of an inch, maybe as

saw some rain coming in today, but really the center of low pressure that's spinning around the gulf of alaska. and then we've got another storm right behind that are just some fierce storms with lot of wind out over the open waters and that's what generating the large swell. and that's well, we'll continue to build as we head in toward a tonight and early tomorrow morning. high surf warnings going into effect. 25 to 30 foot breakers right along the coastline on those west and northwest facing beaches. so you get to ocean beach to get the pacifica. you're going to see some of those huge swells. they're very dangerous. sneaker waves and strong rip currents rolling in along the coastline over the next few days, probably through the weekend to so be careful out along the water's edge, you can dragged away into the water you out there on the rashid get knocked off and well, that's not a good scenario. so ago, along with that, we're seeing those huge waves likely going to see some inundation along the coastline. we've got an astronomical high tide again, about 7 to 7 and a half likely to see some o

the gulf of alaska could keep things went in through about wednesday morning. then it looks like we may begin to see a little bit of a break. so but not mall. there looks like on long-range models. there's even some more rain moving in toward the end of the year. so things are going to keep going, i think for quite some time. and that time of year where that can happen. we can see all that rain moving, in fact, going to be measured inches. coming up here, i think maybe down the urban areas through about the middle of next week. maybe a couple, maybe 3 inches of rain over the mountains, maybe as much as 5 plus inches of rain that said no major flooding is expected could see some flash flooding during periods of some heavier rainfall around the bay area. so with these progressive storm, the chance for flooding will, of course, increase. expect sunday morning said when can you get out? you know, i think sunday morning, i think we're okay. still on sunday but as you head in toward 10, 12 o'clock in the afternoon, we could begin to see some showers spending up. inter

one sliding out the gulf of alaska. we've had lightning strikes pop up along that frontal boundary. so there's the outside shot. we could see something like that. not a lot of activity with this one, but you can see a couple raindrops trying to pop up along parts of the north bay right now. and that is going to spread to the south as we head throughout the evening hours. so if you're headed out the door, this front comes through and then right behind it, you've got high pressure, kind of a kurd off the pacific. and that kind of leaves the door open, not for anything big, but another chance of a few scattered light showers, especially north of the golden gate bridge as we head in toward tomorrow and will be a little breezy overnight tonight. all right here, the computer models, you can see mostly energy from staying north of our area. but this year give some snow out of it. we're going to see a chance of a glancing blow of some scattered showers. kind of rotating on through as we head in toward the weekend as well. high pressure will start to build in, though, over the weekend that le

that will be moving in that one just beginning to roll in out of the gulf of alaska. going to bring in some colder air and some unstable air to i think we're looking at a potential for some heavy rainfall again by tomorrow night and that wednesday morning commute could be a mass. we'll talk more about that and time out. your storm for you. coming up. lawrence, thank you taking a live look at sfo now where? >> flights this morning were delayed on average more than an hour and a half because we have high winds and unsettled weather. you can see out there right now very, very wet on the runway. dozens of flights going out this morning. we're also on hold as passengers waited for their planes to arrive. all this unsettled weather for the next several days might make travel a bit messy with more than 2 million people expected to pass through sfo this friday being the busiest day of this little travel season here. here's a look at how bay area airports are fairing right now. according to flightaware at sfo, there have been more than 400 delays in 8 cancellations at oakland
