chris gutierrez is at ground zero of the disaster in mississippi, 40 miles north of the state capital in jackson. chris is, the danger still current or has it passed? >> the danger has passed, geraldo but the rescue and recovery continues that the hour. you mentioned ten people tragically were killed when the storm issues tell moved through around noon today but authorities are telling us off camera they fear that death toll will rise. i want to bring in hayley douglas. this is her mother's bar behind me. she was working across the street at noon. what it you see and what did you hear? >> we just saw a big black cloud with white parts in it and it sounded like a train on train tracks. >> just a roaring loud noise. you can see behind me what is left of her mother's business literally reduced to rubble. it opens around 3:00 local time so thankfully no one was here around noon. i want to make my way over here because one of the stories we are hearing late this evening are the stories of how people sprung into action to help one another. these three weren't directly affected by the storm,

understandable and back on shore the survivors are thankfully reunited with loved ones and kris gutierrezexas, dallas, texas with more on the story. >> reporter: good morning to you, martha. roughly 100 survivors were brought back to shore, early this morning in apart fouchon, louisiana by family and friends at a hotel in new orleans after being checked out by doctors and we know, at this hour, 11 of the crewmembers are missing. the coast guard searched more than 1900 square miles, looking for them. and, so far they have come up empty. 17 people were injured, in the blast, four critically. the crew was doing exploratory drilling, 50 miles off of the coast of louisiana. on a rig, twice the size of a football field and that rig is still burning this morning. the cause of the explosion is still under investigation. but early reports are it appears to be a blowout, when natural gas or oil forces its way up a well pipe and smashes the equipment, mar, they kris gutierrez, incredible pictures and a tragedy and they are still trying to find those who are missing. bill: holding out hope. from the

but the concern in terms of the latino voter block, are you concerned as representative gutierrez is that latinos will stay home and not vote in the mid-terms if this goes through in arizona? >> well, you know, there are latinos in congressional districts. we're talking about the congressional districts. and some of the senate seats being up in this election in november. and in some districts the latino vote makes or breaks that election. more and more in more congressional districts. we want those latinos to come out. we want them to vote for the party and the person that will help them. i believe his panics are better helped in the united states by democrats. now, i'm personally one of those people who didn't hear president obama be really thrilled or really write down an agenda as a candidate for the hispanic population. but i have spoken to him now that he is president. and he does want to move reform, a comprehensive immigration reform, that i think will not only help hispanics here, not only help immigrants here, but it will help all of america. because we need to settle this.

joining us is kris gutierrez. good morning to you. >> good morning to you, steve.ure perfect launch according to the folk here's at nasa. take again a look at the launch. it was beautiful, a sight to see and you could feel it, three miles away. immediately after the launch, nasa starts looking at different camera angles to make sure that there wasn't foam lost, particularly foam that would compromise the integrity of the belly of the orbiter and they did spot something around the four minute mark. we should point out this is way past the point of concern. you're looking at the video. you see that piece of foam that jumps off of the external fuel tank and smacks the belly of the orbiter, or appears to? nasa says that past the 2:15 mark, anything that comes off the external fuel tank is not a concern because the air is so thin up there that it doesn't carry the force to damage the belly of the orbiter. again, it's something that nasa is looking at, but at this point, doesn't appear to be a problem. >> steve: so if they did have to go back and try to eyeball it with t

k rivment s gutierrez, live from the dallas bureau with the breaking news, kris, how did they catch this guy? >> megyn, prosecutors are telling us that 52-year-old larry north had been on the radar screen and considered a person of interest for the past week, so what they did is made a surveillance team follow him everywhere he went, 24 hours a day and actually one of those surveillance teams reported they saw him putting another explosive device into a mailbox in a shopping center outside of a tyler shopping mall. they saw him do that yesterday. then when they moved in to arrest him they said they found another explosive device in his vehicle. that makes 36 bombs authorities say north put together, some of them were fake, megyn, but all were taken seriously, because authorities say this man was responsible for striking fear to people all across east texas. listen here. >> the actions placed this community in fear of performing the simplest of basic daily tasks like mailing a letter. something we've enjoyed the ability to do for over 100 years. >> reporter: prosecutors are also telling u

kris gutierrez saw it all happen. a few pieces of foam fell off the external tank when the shuttle launched. are nasa directors worried about that? >> they're not. that's a great point we should point out. obviously foam off the external tank in the past has been catastrophic, we clurnd that with columbia in 2003 and it's not here and i'll explain why. we have the external fuel tank, it's orange here and two solid boosters, so when the orbiter launched this morning, you know, it breaks apart and we've seen that video over and over. well, there's actually cameras mounted right here on the external fuel tank and what they do is they capture things like foam falling off the external fuel tank. take a look at video here, what we saw, and again, it's the timing that's important here, because around four minutes into the mission, four minutes after launch, we see pieces of debris, pieces of the external fuel tank, foam we're thinking, ripping off the external fuel tank and floating by the belly of the orbiter. did it strike
