gutierrez says the police did a good job catching them. according to a statement from san francisco police, four people were initially detained on scene, but police ultimately arrested only two of them, who were also taken to the hospital for minor injuries. the white sedan officers were chasing also crashed, knocking out a light pole and damaging a pg&e gas metering box. according to a pg&e spokesperson, no gas lines were damaged and no customer service was ever affected. the spokesperson says it's a non-critical piece of equipment, but it will need to be replaced. the incident has some raising questions about when police chases should and shouldn't be allowed. according to the police statement, this is a chase that actually started a few miles away in the south of market district. officers spotted the suspicious vehicle that ran away from an attempted stop earlier this weekend. police say they also found a gun in the car while charges are pending in this case. an sfpd spokesperson did not say what crimes the two men were arrested for. la
