robert: it is an very unfortunate situation. not only is it hitting the worst place possible, it is really coming at the worst possible time also. like i said, there is going to be more crude oil stuffed into storage. we are going to have an oversupply situation as a result. it is hard to imagine it coming back really quick. the production platforms in the gulf, they could come back quickly. they are engineering marvels. they could withstand the storm. the producer companies can get employees back to platforms and they can go live. the refineries on the other hand, they are also engineering marvels, but they are vulnerable to flooding. not to mention the fact that the surrounding areas are going to be damaged also. the workers are going to have to deal with their own personal lives. there will be power outages, trees across the road, it takes a lot more people to run a refinery than it does to work a production platform. getting those people to a refinery, getting them to work in the environment that will exist in the wake of a category four hurricane will be challenging at best. that alone will have a drag on how long it takes for a refinery to open. you also have to take into consideration the flooding damage. there is a lot going on here. gasoline will probably be at a shortage after the storm moves through the area. that will probably be the biggest issue here is gasoline. we are about 7 million barrels above last year's levels. we are 80 million above in crude oil. you can do the math and you can tell the gasoline market is much tighter than the crude oil market. crude oil is in tango. gasoline is in backwardation. those are market structures of the price curve. lisa: thank you so much for the insight. it is really telling right now. we are looking at crude prices a little higher. over $40 a barrel but not the surge you would expect with refineries getting hit hard. coming up, the former governor of the bank of canada and england has. details on that, next. from new york, this is bloomberg. ♪ ♪ mark: hurricane laura is rapidly gaining strength. forecasters say it could come ashore as a category four storm with what they say would be "an un-survivable 20 foot surge that could sink entire communities in texas and louisiana." authorities are urging coastal residents to flee before it is too late. it is on track to arrive as the most powerful hurricane to strike the united states this year. tensions are running high in kenosha. killedple were shot and following a night of protests following a police shooting of a black man sunday. police say the gunman may have been a white man, who was caught on cellphone video opening fire on the street with a semi-automatic rifle. david beth says investigators have footage and is confident the suspect will be arrested soon. the city has seen multiple protests since jacob blake was shot multiple times by police. he survived, but his family says he is paralyzed from the waist down. h

ha and has come up, but in a good way in a way that brings about success. has any of your research focused on the wasp and at the ninth which is? >> guest: they were the soviet women pilots. the soviets were in such a different place than the americans were during world war ii. our cities were not under siege so our women didn't need to do the same work. the wasp's had great respect for those russian pilots. in the 1990s once the soviet union opened up, some went to russia and met with a member of the pilots. there is a great book by one of the wasp's i can't remember the name of it off the top of my head but she interviewed a number of thmember of the russid put it together in a book. so the respect is therefore sure. the soviet women flew in combat and did some very serious work. they didn't know about them during the war but in the years since, they said that that could have been us if they had to do it but they were all pretty grateful that they weren't. so i do look at the soviets a lot. it's not in the buck but that's a fascinating group of women for sure. john wants to know where they are navy wasps? >> guest: that is a great question and something that was talked about. one of the women of her husband worked for grumman and some of her friends did some test flying but there is no official women doing that. there were some who flew on to o the navy planes but they were not pilots in that sense. the navy leads the way and that is kind of an interesting back story but during the war there were not women pilots in the navy. >> host: paul from chicago says realizing the u.s. a have 1100 aviators in world war ii, how many did the united kingdom already have? >> guest: in england you have to air transport auxiliary and several hundred women who flew with the transport auxiliary. they have well over 200 women who are part of that and it was a support for the air force rather than flying combat or things like that come about it was very important in supporting the war effort. they would bury their planes or do the repairs that needed to be done and ended up sliding across the channel all the way to france with some of the planes. the women in england were pretty astounding, too. >> host: could you discuss the coals roll? >> guest: the first female thunderbird pilot later on. she came to the 2008 lost reunion and had got to know some of the wasp but came to the banquet of speakers, the last official reunion i was honored to be the chair of the reunion and she came and gave a talk. a couple of the kids started talking with her about i think they need a national gold medal, don't you and she was stricken by the idea and i believe that a white house fellow at the time worked her magic and momentary heart and was a huge player in making that congressional gold medal happened because you can still find the gold medal ceremonies on c-span and she's a big part of those ceremonies as well. she's terrific. >> host: no doubt the wasp's were an inspiration for her. marjorie is asking the archives, what do you have regarding the wasp's? >> guest: the wasp archives at texas university are never-ending. i started using those archives in 1996, when it just started and there was one collection of boxes. today it goes on for thousands of boxes worth of material. they have everything. resources i needed whether it is oral history they've done over the years ar or the letters and diaries and official documents, pictures that they've donated, people have donated, but then they do, they have uniforms and banners and shoes and purses and bags and trunks and anything you need. one of the things because they are an archive, they bring the materials out to the library or to the museum so if you are in museum at an exhibit about the wasp, contact them and they will loan you got then when you're done you send it back so they take great care of the materials of the wasp story as well as the more modern aviators. if you're interested in doing more research about the wasp, that is the way to go they have everything that you could ever want. >> host: that is fantastic so much has been gathered in one place because often a challenge and i' i am sure that it needs u very happy over the years. >> guest: what kind of historian gets to live miles from the archives. >> host: i'm sure this question is one of us want to know. our any of the wasp still with us? >> guest: yes. we've got about 32 i think left. 1830 went through training and 1100 or the civil wings and we're down to 32, all over 95 now so it's one of those, they are pretty amazing women. >> host: we had one more question come in that we don't want to miss. in your research have you ever come across loretta floyd? after i returned home [inaudible] using a much smaller helicopter. the first day i was introduced to the little lady about 50-years-old that wouldn't be able to teach me a 22-year-old about anything and come to find out, this was a wasp. are you familiar with loretta? >> guest: i didn't have the chance to meet her in person, but this is a similar story that i've heard from a lot of people where t
