the proceeds from tonight and from the fall parade of homes in the cedar rapids area is going to a hacap service called operation home. this program works to find housing and other services for homeless veterans and their families. we might not think that homelessness for veterans is an issue here in eastern iowa, but operation vets who fall into that category each year. some are living on the streets. others stay with friends and family members or in local shelters. their problems can include unemployment , substance abuse, mental health, and many other issues. operation home begins by finding the vets. actively seeking them out. and then it works first to get them into permanent housing. and then connecting them to other services that might be necessary. its goal is to end homelessness. people are starting to arrive more about operation home, don't miss my special report on this program tonight on t-v nine news at ten. beth, back to you. thanks, bruce. dubuque homeowners who experienced flooding might get some help. today's announcement for funding includes a project to stop flooding i

a famous cat made a stop this morning to benefit the hiawatha library's hacap food drive. pete the cat is the mascot from a series of children's books. each book teaches readers a good lesson. children and their families were invited to drop off a canned good and take a picture with pete. librarians said it's a good way to promote two things.
