in 2010 there were some significant amendments to it and it took on its current name of hacto. primarily some of the bigger changes was it did add a component about transit first and also the whole concept of fleet reduction. i'll mention a bit more about that in a minute. one important thing to realize about hacto is that the way it was established is enacted by the board of supervisors. it applies to light duty vehicles within the fleet. so, it's not the entire fleet of vehicles that the city owns, does not include heavy duty vehicles. it is vehicles up to 8500 pounds, gross vehicle weight. so, that means basically passenger vehicle, primarily passenger vehicleses and light duty trucks. and -- nor does it include because effectively waived by one means or another public safety and emergency vehicles. so, the main components, then, of the ordinance as its was adopted by the board of supervisors and as it has been placed with the department of environment for primary responsibility for implementation, first as a transit first requirement. putting forward the, the whole concept

director osman about was we talked about potentially requesting general fund money to support the hacto work that we were doing and i didn't know if that was -- any progress had been made on that or that was something we were going to do in the future. >> i had a conversation with our budget analyst this afternoon about that. it's looking difficult. let's put it that way. we haven't given up yet. so, it's actually -- for the green transportation team, it is essential for us to keep our existing team to get some support either from the general funds or from mta. we've also put in a request to the municipal transportation authority. we haven't heard back from the mta yet and our discussions of the general fund are continuing. >> keep us updated. i guess we can -- >> absolutely. >> great. those are the main two things we talked about and i would say come to the operations committee meeting. we get to dive into a lot of programs we're working on. >> just a note on that. the next meeting normally is scheduled for february 12. we had a discussion, and i can't remember if it was at that meetin

request or interest in the holding an event to highlight those departments that have done a great job at hacto. every year in june, we sponsor the blue green awards where we highlight departments that have done particularly well or done some great specific project related to all of the climate action strategy activities in their climate action plans. and it's a wonderful event. we weren't able to hold it last year because war memorial was being done and that was our cheap, low-cost venue. and we hadn't quite finished fully moving in yet at that point, so, it was tough to hold it at the department and we had no budget for it. but i think this year we're going to be in much better shape. >> if we do, i love where i think you're going with this. does our trophy shop have like a little green truck trophy? >> well, i was thinking to have a trophy of the light duty vehicle that's not there. >> there you go. >> we'll have to think about how to do that. >> so, the good news, thank you for letting the cat out of the bag. the climate action strategy is printed. it's almost going to be ready to be releas

that was outside the scope of the base -- the hacto base fleet which was a snapshot in june of 2010. an example of that would be parking enforcement. they had a significant increase in the amount of work they were doing as far as -- i think they started having sunday enforcement, parking enforce. : they needed more vehicles. >> and they'll be getting rid of -- >> we're working on making those electric right now. >> so, then, the vehicles that are reduced out of the fleet reduction, those were noncompliant vehicles? ~ most likely? what is it, they reach a certain stage of mileage and they're vehicles we wouldn't find on our compliant list, right? they're vehicles that we want to get out of the fleet anyway, right?
