last night her school in south hadley, massachusetts expelled a number of students, nine others face criminal charges. where are the parents of these bullies? that's what we're wondering? where r the principals and teachers? why isn't it taken as seriously as it could be? >> reporter: this is the press release some are calling a slap in the face. in the wake of 15-year-old phoebe prince's suicide and immediately following the indictment of nine classmates who allegedly bullied her, south hadley schools announced we have taken additional disciplinary action with additional students removed from the high school. it looks like a proactive move on the school's part. guess what, the students they're talking about are not the nine students charged in prince's death. that's because the school hasn't taken any disciplinary action against them. is the school now trying to look like it's on top of the problem some say it completely missed? keeping them honest, we went looking for answers. >> i'm with cnn. >> we're not allowing any media on the property. >> reporter: you're the principal. >> i

the small town of south hadley became the focus of the national spotlight, and a larger debate about bullying, when the d.a. took the strong stance charging the nine teens. now those teenagers accused of taunting phoebe are the subject of harassment themselves. >> this is a 16-year-old girl who i feel has been tried an convicted unfairly by the general public. she has been receiving significant harassment over the internet and other ways. >> reporter: but are the teens the only ones to blame? the d.a.'s investigation claims school administrators ignored the signs in the days leading up to phoebe prince's death. >> prior to phoebe's death, her mother spoke with at least two school staff members. the actions or inactions of some adults at the school are troublesome. >> reporter: still, they faced no charges or disciplinary action, sparking outrage among the community. >> the town is hiding behind whatever it is they can get away with hiding behind. >> reporter: parents held a series of town hall meetings demanding answers. >> this should have never happened and they should have done so

we learn three 16-year-old girls we of south hadley high school in massachusetts berated and teased herast january 14th, the day she killed herself. some of the disturbing details. the harassment had been going on for months and on january 13th. phoebe told a friend "school has been close to intolerable lately." this is phoebe 15 years old. came from hollywood. she was new to the country and new to the school in massachusetts. here's how phoebe's last day unfolded in school on that day. now, the documents says the accused students called her an irish whore while she tried to study in the library and began crying on the way home from school. on the walk home that afternoon after one of them threw an energy drink called a monster drink that was inside the vehicle, threw it at her as she was walking home crying. also that same afternoon, the report said phoebe exchanged several text messages with a friend, phoebe told the friend she was upset about the taunts, her despair at the ongoing taunting to which she was subjected. now, phoebe sent her last secretary at 2:48 p.m. two hours later he
