but we saw that the president now endorsed kay hagen through a radio ad. the question became why now? he has not been a part of her campaign for so long. why now in the final hours? i spoke with one democratic operative, who explained the strategy like this -- the republicans have made this race from the very beginning about president obama. and they've painted him as a liability so what they're thinking now as far as the democrats go, is why not use him as a benefit? because the truth of the matter is, there is a segment of the voting bloc who still supports the president. and it just so happens, that segment that still supports the president are exactly peemt who kay hagen needs to show up at the polls when they open in 30 minutes from now. >> very interesting story. kay hagan bringing in president obama at the last second and the big challenge in that race is a man whose ad says get hog, get high. that's an interesting thing about the two states of politics today. brian todd, in new hampshire, this race keeps creeping up on people's radar about things t

and kay hagen in north carolina did the least well of any democratic or independent nominee. the view of the democratic party towards the latino community, we asked our respondents what they thought about democrats' attitudes towards latinos. do they truly care? really don't care much at all? or even hostile? as you can see, 48% report that democrats truly care about the latino community. that's the lowest number we have observed since we have been taking -- asking this question for the last couple years. 36% either say he they don't care too much or are hostile. by comparison, 42% say they don't care too much and 23% say hostile with respect to the republican party, meaning 65% of latino voters see republicans as disinterested or hostile. while only 22% view republicans as caring for the community and its needs. so, why latinos voted. matt will tell you about that. >> thanks, gary. thanks, everyone, for your interest today. as gary said, we have a methodology that is definitely different from the national exit poll, which we think doesn't do a good job of interviewing latino

still some more votes there potentially for hagen. 90% in wake county.votes out here for kay hagan to come in, in these traditionally democratic areas. that's the question for thom tillis as these rural votes come in. 76% here. so still a little bit out here. not as many people. the question for the tillis campaign as they've moved into that very narrow lead, are there any more pockets of votes for them to offset. that's a wow. we're going to be counting that one. we've got 30% of the vote to go. let's move to virginia. this one has tightened even more. this is very, very tight where 87% of the vote counted. these republican areas, 100% in. 100% in. so if you're at gillespie headquarters, you know this. there are still some votes out in the washington suburbs. you see it shaded blue. 83% in prince william county. you move out of the suburbs, democratic country, but ed gillespie putting up a good fight. and 17% left. we'll wait and watch that vote. fairfax city, 100% in. mark warner knows, nothing left in the basket there. fairfax county, still have some

we're talking about having hagen, udall, pryor sitting there in the senate after they've been taken outobably whether they're going to support the president or give up their seats. i bet they'll lose louisiana. that's a done deal. she's barely ahead even in this jungle primary. you have four other open seats where democrats sit. and the question is, somebody's got to one day ask this about lame ducks, legitimacy issue. if democrats are going to vote, the voters are going to say, no, no, no, no and they're going to try to jam down judgeships and so on. we need to understand the strategy the next month is going to be important for how it looks when republicans do take the senate and want to start passing legislation. if you think these people are going to come up with a tax reform bill in one month given the interest groups and how much money they put in this e election. i would like to see progress, but i'm a realist. >> we're going to ask you to standby. we're going to take a quick break. it's been a big night for republicans picking up seven seats in the senate. what does it mean? wher
