there was an incident on board a train in haifa.sraeli police are saying a group of soldiers on board the train. they noticed someone they thought was suspicious. they screamed out the word terrorist and a police officer opened fire. when the train rolled up to the train station, everyone got off and they searched the train. they were saying it is a false alarm. the police officer who fired the gun is under investigation. no one injured in that incident. it goes to show you how people here are on edge. yesterday, there were two separate stabbing incidents. one near the damascus gate of the old city and one near the central bus station in jerusalem. in both cases, attackers were shot and killed by israeli security forces. three civilians wounded in those attacks. those attacks happened in the face of really heightened security presence. more police out on the streets. more security guards guarding the public transportation systems. yet, this violence persists. it is unclear what secretary of state john kerry is expected to visit the

a palestinian human rights lawyer spoke with us late last night from haifa, israel, about the recent round of congregation and whether israel is engaging in excessive force or defending defendindefendingitself. >> this is not just excessive force, this is more than excessive force. this is nothing to do with self-defense, but with israel wanting to get rid of as many palestinians as possible. all it takes is lynch mobs as we are defining them, yelling arab arab terrorist, terrorist, and the policy kicks in shoot first and ask questions later. >> there has been a wave of stabbings of israeli citizens. what do you think israel should respond? >> i would expect them to respond as they should 50 years ago, there's a link between occupation and between violence and the fact that this occupation continues for 50 years, generation after generation, live under israeli military rule, we can't simply ignore the occupation, we can't simply pretend it doesn't exist. it is time for israel to end the occupation, we are not getting the full and complete picture what is happening here as a result of

on a train to haifa, the northern city there, a woman thought she saw a suspicious-looking man, shoutedn the chaos that follow, the brakes were applied, a police officer discharged his weapon. a search of the train found there was no threat. similar, around tel aviv, a car, supposedly a suspicious car, was chased, blocked off using roadblocks and a helicopter and two palestinian youths taken into custody before being released. once their suspicion was eventually cleared as well. you mentioned the fact that legal weapons owners in this country are being encouraged to carry their weapons here. it is all a sign of just how tense, how scared people are. and how difficult it is to police and secure the streets against the sorts of attacks we've been seeing here. young men, sometimes teenagers, sudd suddenly, without warning, attacking with knives and cleavers innocent people on the streets. it is a real security challenge. and that is why things remain very tense here in jerusalem tonight, wolf. >> all right, be careful over there, phil, we'll stay in close touch with you. thank you very muc

>> i grew up in haifa.i remember when i went to law school in tel aviv, university, there were very difficult times. there were times when there were suicide attacks going on inside israel. those happen in response to the seller going to hebron mosque and killing those who are crying in the mosque. that kind of blew up the whole situation. it was clear that without cracking down on the settler violence, without ending israel's settler activity in the west bank, there is no way the palestinians will sit back and allow the israeli government to continue to control their life in every way. so i think the escalation that we are seeing now has been mounting, building because of what has happened in the last several years. there is no hope for any real normal life. this is the new normal for palestinians, which is military occupation continues unabated, the israeli government could choose to send settlers to the west bank, a crackdown rounding of children, palestinian children in night raids. document to by pales

this was a 72-hour event of haifa rain in south carolina. even new york wasn't that bad it was was focussed we still have some heavy rain from the myrtle beach area up towards wilmingt n wilmington. there was a road collapse and boats are going in and rescuing people from their homes. dramatic scenes like that are still being played out. we saw one spot that was 26, almost 27 inches of rain. that's like a record snowfall, forget it's rain. sumter, cainwho i, charleston, 20 inches of rain. three dams could not old the water. held up with rock and mud and earth, those gave way and all of that water rushed down through the town. hundreds of cars, hundreds of homes were flooded out, that's where we had a lot of dramatic pictures on sunday morning. the roads are almost impossible to get through. 312 road closiers in south carolina, 130 bridges are unpassable and damaged. there's another view of the radar. wilmington could deal with isolated flash flooding but that's about it. still flash flood warnings, myrtle beach the biggest problems now, peop
