thank you, hal. and on the michigan business tax i want to give one special note of recognition to lieutenant govern cally who helped lead the way and work tirelessly on the tax reform situation. we also completed a major reform over individual income tax system. we changed the personal tax system to one defined by fairness, one that doesn't treat anyone better than anyone else. we've levelled the playing field to give all michiganders a fair shake for the long-term. we've made major improvements with local government forms that encourage more transparentally, better health care costs and service sharing between communities. for example we now have 435 jurisdictions doing dashboards. we created a $5 million pool to fund innovative collaborations between governments and the first award out of this pool was to grand rapids, flint and lansing to joint process their income tax returns. the $550,000 award they received resulted in over $2 million of savings over the next nine years. this exercise was due

so, hal, do you find a lot of companies reshoring? do you find that you are giving that advice to a lot of companies you work with? >> well, the world has changed pretty rapidly. wages have risen in china by 20% to 30% a year for awhile and companies are beginning to realize that the advantages of going to china, particularly on products that don't have a large labor content, are going down. so we're starting to see just the beginnings of a wave of companies who are beginning to reshore to the u.s. we don't think this will start in a major way until around 2015, but we're surprised by how many have begun now, companies like faruk systems that make hair dryers or sleek audio that make audio equipment or coleman that makes coolers are now bringing their products back to the united states. and that is a rapid change. >> why bring them to the u.s. instead of another low-wage country? >> well, there's several factors that are involved. first is the quality of the products that could be produced in the u.s. they are very high. and most impo

hal-- thank you for crossing the bay. it is important in the board talks about the kind of development. that you include a question on the impact of workers. very little did we say what happens. i will give you the data in terms of the impact on walmart. inthithere is a lot of data ande found that walmart paid 14.5 cents less. we found that there were [unintelligible] around 60% less. we looked at a job based health care coverage. 5% of -- fewer had health care compared to retailers. we looked at the average wage there were paying. that would have been at 2005 levels. 8% of the federal poverty line for a family of four working at a typical wal-mart hours. we saw that when walmart enters the county, you lose 150 workers on average. for every job they create you'll lose 1.4 jobs. in terms of what trying to impact on how they treat their workers, we ran a simulation. the question of what would happen if you have them pay $12 an hour. we found that it would increase the overall cost of wal-mart. a $3.2 billion. that could inc
