dedicated to electing nikki haley as president. during the republican primary this past year, our chapter helped rally support for nikki right here on georgetown's campus. we organized voter outreach in the dmv area and we supported the haley campaign at rallies. i'm extremely proud of all the work we did and a tireless dedication of all our members, some of whom here are with us in the front tonight. [applause] tonight, it's my pleasure to introduce former us ambassador to the united nations, nikki haley. in 2010, at age 38 nikki r. haley was elected the 116th governor of south carolina. she was the youngest governor in the country and the only minority female governor in america. to date, she is the only female governor in south carolina history. during governor haley's tenure, south carolina was a national leader in economic development, known as the beast of the southeast. the state's unemployment rate hit a 15 year low. it saw over 20 billion in new capital investment and her administration announced new jobs in every county o

how are you going to get haley voters to vote for harris when nikki haley herself is voting for trump well, look, nikki haley is entitled to her own opinion. she's made her decision for whatever reasons and i think there are a lot of her previous voters who respect her right to make her decision. they won't be dictated to. they won't be told what to do. these are independent-minded folks which they proved by voting in many cases like myself, in pennsylvania, six weeks after she was no longer a candidate, expressing the protest vote against donald trump. i don't think that haley's position, if she goes out and does a rally or two, will be decisive here. the best polling data we have is that about half, a little less than half, maybe 45% of the haley voters will stay with the republican identify and stay with trump. about a third have already decided to vote for harris. and about a quarter are still up for grabs two weeks out. my group and other aligned groups are spending many millions to give them what we think are the right arguments for why they should come over. it was said in the

i do want to mention one thing because we talked a little bit about nikki haley. this is another demographic that they are trying to reach through. nikki haley that right now they are struggling with and that is women, particularly suburban women. we know that he has done a number of these town halls where he has had these republican prominent women host them or need them, whether it be sarah huckabee sanders or kristi noem, but none of them really have the heft that nikki haley has behind her, nor do they have the support that is just outside of donald trump's base. now, one of the things that donald trump has said, he said it as recently as friday when i was at a rally, they said women seem to like my policies, but they don't like me. and then he went on to say some of the comments that he has made that women don't seem to like and he is absolutely correct. we have seen that gender gap in that polling. it is a very real thing. i've talked to a number of sources close to donald trump, republican operatives who all say they believe nikki haley, if she agrees to do
