the clean-up is continuing at city hall and most of the city hall buildings are closed. crews finding everything here from debris to dirty needles. >> the police chief did i think amazingly good job. nobody was hurt. >> reporter: oakland mayor jean quan in washington, d.c. praising city officials for a predawn police raid that ended with dozens of "occupy oakland" protesters in cuffs. their tents torn down and belongings confiscated in a cloud of tear gas. >> all persons remaining inside snow park are under arrest. >> reporter: hundreds of officers from 15 different agencies throughout the bay area stormed the tent city early this morning making at least 79 arrests. but protestors say the scene was nothing short of chaotic. >> i was one of the first people arrested and the police officer just grabbed me from behind and i was like, why are you arresting me, you know, i'm being peaceful? >> this was nothing to be thought through and our workers are feeling like they're in an unsafe position right now. >> reporter: unions representing city officials say it was a poorly plan

this morning police moved in to the tent city out front of city hall and made dozen of arrests and this is their -- they are promising this isn't over. >> you can see the line of police there, they are trying to keep them away from 880 which is just about a block and a half to the right of the screen there. this protest started right in front of the public library on 14th street. what they did was they marched down 14th street and then turned at broadway which is right where that occupy camp site had been set up. they moved down broadway, now they are -- right in front of the police headquarters there and also the county jail, the police looks like they have -- basically set up a line, not allowing them to go any further heading toward 880. we estimate there are at least a couple of hundred people involved in this protest. john is in oakland now with more on the back and north that's been going on all day now between the protesters and police. >> reporter: all day protesters have been facing off with police and sheriff deputies, just over there is the plaza where the camp was broken up

xi hall hall call if the hall with >>marty: death a powerful earthquake in turkey overnight.here are reports of deaths and injuries. several aftershocks as strong as a magnitude 5.5 followed today's earthquake in turkey. police in san jose are investigating an officer involved shooting that happened just about an hour ago when police responded to a call that a suspicious person was at the extended stay hotel. the suspects left. threatening to officers and was shot. he was struck once by gunfire. his condition at this point is unknown. about 100 people have been displaced after a fire at an apartment building in san jose overnight. firefighters responded to the call after 1:00 a.m.. they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. at least six people had to be rescued. it did a couple of hours to get the fire under control. no cause has to determine just yet. >>marty: in the east bay, new details on a deadly crash in san leandro that is now being investigated as a homicide. authorities say a transit bus driver may have intentionally hit a hell's angels motorcycle li
