there are two large reasons why i support the building of a new residence hall. one, i had no choice but to move off campus my third year at usf. it is difficult finding an apartment because it is a competitive area to search for housing. i found myself homeless through july and would often find myself web caming my roommate who would visit apartments. i was 2,500 miles away and it was very hard to communicate. often [speaker not understood] skeptical for having me as a tenant because my parents did not speak english so they weren't sure how to keep my family accountable if i were to miss a payment and there was no reliable contact to reach my parents. it was a stressful period for both my parents and i. second, with housing opportunities available to students, it really does foster a great sense of community. living in the residence hall for two years, i definitely have encouraged every student to continue to live on campus because you have that sense of community, you are not able to find anywhere else. you build yourself as a better leader by getting involved.

actually carnegie hall is named after the steel magnate industrialist. there is an interesting story that connects into dale carnegie. kim monkey originally spelled his name carnegie. that was the way you spelled his name until he is in his 20th and he went to his new york his new york city and got an office in carnegie hall. being a shrewd boy he was, he decided he should change the name of the spelling of his last name because he said his explanation was everybody pronounced it that way anyway. so there is a little bit more to it. the other thing i found fascinating when he changed the spelling of his name, and hubert moved the day from his name. this is my first time speaking at city hall. i just wanted to share with you my story of city college. ~ buyers i've actually been involved with these budget cuts and college protests since high school. and in high school i even took [speaker not understood] we had the health academy which introduced students to careers in the health field through city college. and the instructor -- the instructors for that program were fantastic. it was a very warm, friendly setting. something that i had to deal with in my senior year of high school with my father passing away halfway through my senior year, and that really hurt me in my grades and all around. and i was afraid, i didn't know what i was going to do. when i went to city college i had no plans to transfer, but through the years i spent there since 2011 i found an incredible community of people, an incredible community of teachers, people who i want to keep close and keep as support. this school has meant so much to me and as an art student myself, i want to pursue my improvement i

today, i'm introducing a comprehensive over hall of the san francisco policies on graffiti. this is a product of months of calculation including the city attorney's office dennis herrera and the directors of mta director reiskin and the director of dpw director mohammed and 311 center as well as the police department the graffiti advisory board and the san francisco arts commission and san francisco beautiful and local artists. they all joined me at a press convention. i want to thank them all for coming and helping us to craft this legislation. accordingly to the budget and elective analysts it costs the city nearly $20,000 a year not only by property owners. i see the human costs that graffiti considers and i hear from property owners who faithfully paint over graffiti i see that muni riders because the busses are at the yard being cleaned of vandalism. i've seen the entire budget be spent simply on removing graffiti from the public art. it's important for us as a city to do something about it is a serious problem. instead in developing this legislation i didn't want to fo

there was a town hall last night in the mission. feelings are very very real, very very raw. that will be, i don't think that's going away anytime soon. again, i apologized for the police department for the loss of alejandro to mr. neat oh, he is as any father would be. i can't say anything more about that. friday night there was a shooting here in the tenderloin. it appears to be over an amount of money owed over drugs. the suspect vehicle pulled up. the suspect got out, argued with the person that he believed owed him a debit and he was not satisfied, he went to his car and produced a gun and he grazed then intended victim. that victim left the scene and went to bayview after getting treated for his injuries. san francisco police officers arrested him with a tech 9 machine pistol.ness he is in custody, the next day investigation led us to arrest of the suspect. a lot of credit has to go to the emmeraryville p.d.. lastly on some positive notes, we broke in the first days of little league baseball across the city over the past couple weeks, on friday, officer johnson, citizen
