fox 29's shawnette wilson joins us live at philadelphia city hall tonight.hawnette. >> reporter: the city was actually like a ghost town earlier today but now people are out and about and they don't even mine the cold. so dilworth plaza doesn't disappoint as you can imagine on any day especially not on christmas day. people looking to get out from under the christmas tree and piles of wrapping paper and toys came here. it's been pack with family and friends ice skating or taking in holiday decorations. people we talk to say even though most businesses closed if you get out and walk around you'll bump into something cool to do. >> all the restaurants and shopped are closed but a lot happening. christmas village and miracle on 13th and south. philly always something -- something is always happening in philly. it's never boring. >> reporter: all right. so as we mentioned the city is coming alive tonight. dilworth plaza also drew a lot of people iain because they have the light show and i am actually trying wrap up now because there's a marching drum band coming

from san francisco city hall, jackie ward, kpix 5. >>> this just in from washington. florida republican senator marco rubio now says that he will support president trump's tax reform bill. the bill is supposed to go up for a vote next week. reporter weijia jang is live for us on capitol hill with the latest. >> reporter: that's right, senator rubio threw a last- minute curve ball but after some last-minute wheeling and dealing and revising, members of the house senate conference committee signed a final version of the bill sending it to both chambers for a final vote next week. republicans are expected to unveil the language of a tax reform bill that house and senate negotiators painstakingly combed through. >> this is a big bill with a lot of moving parts and so it requires a lot of attention to detail. >> reporter: but there are several requests to revise the bill after senators rubio and lee issued an ultimatum. they are demanding that the refundable child tax credit be increased by more than $100. an earlier bill would have doubled it. >> i'm reasonable about it.

a very warm figure at city hall. did a lot behind the scenes, in addition to taking a lot of public stances on important issues, such as most recently the sanctuary city debate which became huge in the national spotlight with the killing of kate steinle, and also heavily involved in trying to solve the homeless problem in san francisco only seeming to be getting worse, be you was really trying to make a dent in it, specifically for chronically homeless veterans. that was one of his goals to be able to provide housing for those folks. another big goal was the vision zero for the city, a public works guy at heart, interested in the transportation and safety of pedestrians and bicyclists in the city, that vision to eliminate traffic deaths is something that those still reigning at san francisco city hall will be taking over. i believe we found from now acting mayor of san francisco, london breed, a few hours ago she was at the san francisco general hospital and announced mayor ed lee's death. she was awoken very late la

we are trying to decant the hall of justice so we can demolish that building. i was watching the historic movie, "bullet" with steve mcqueen in the late 60s. they filmed a lot of the scenes in the medical examiner facility. i thought to myself, oh, my goodness. nothing has changed 50 years later. i don't know if there was even an upgrade or renovation. it was exactly the same thing. look at how we've evolved over the last 50 years, new technology. we were skinnier around the waist so it was for skinnier people and it was undersized and didn't meet standards. and this is a project near and dear to the city administrators' hearts. it started for me in 2013 when i was trying to get this facility to be part of the easer program and with the director of public finance we were successful in convincing our capital plan colleagues to put this as part of the 2014easer bond, which went to the voters. it was a $64 million bond. i want to thank the voters because they moved forward with us to bring this new facility, so i just wanted to thank all of you for that. so we hit
