hallie, i ask not facetiously, what were the differences? because you covered so many trump events during the campaign, how did this differ even if it was just in the margins? >> you know, my first answer that comes to mind, brian, is not much. the second part, though, it was a little different in the sense that he had the sick to her that -- the victory that he promised to boast about tonight. all in all, the night felt like a home game day. you're back in the press pen, you're with the vendors selling all their t-shirts, you're walking in with the supporters, the crowd a little bit smaller than what we saw six weeks ago when donald trump was here for a campaign event, but a lot of the same notes, right? you saw an impulsive donald trump. this is not unfamiliar, seemingly almost spontaneously announcing his pick for secretary of defense. you saw a donald trump who railed against high level members of the republican party for not supporting him during the primary. you saw him ticking off his general election wins. it was almost like watching

so hallie, let me start with you. in terms of a formal policy taking shape here right now, donald trump obviously very outspoken on this issue of israel, the united nations resolution, the obama administration breaking with past u.s. foreign policy precedent, not backing the israeli government. trump saying, hey, when i'm in there, we will do that. what is the trump doctrine that's coming into focus right now? is there one? >> reporter: yeah, and i think it's fairly clear by the person he has appointed to be the ambassador to israel, david friedman, a rather controversial pick. steve, this is somebody who is considered by outside analysts to be even to the right of prime minister benjamin netanyahu. somebody who has supported settlements. you look at, for example, donald trump, the president-elect's pledge to move the embassy to jerusalem. again, a controversial move and one that raises a lot of eyebrows among experts in the middle east peace process, who wonder just how helpful that will actually be to that process.

hallie, a couple of questions. i understand capacity is around 17500, how big is the crowd, how far out is mr. trump, and what's expected tonight? >> reporter: let's do it in that order, brian. the crowd, when we can expect to hear donald trump, and what we can expect tonight. you just heard the crowd chanting "lock her up," which is the first time i've heard that this evening. the floor is about a half, three quarters filled. a lot of empty seats in the lowered level with the scheduled start time passing about a minute ago. this is a stark dumpbs from what we saw on october 13th, the last time we were at this arena when it was absolutely jam packed, standing room only on the floor. it seemed like every seat, at least in the lower level was full. that was during the campaign. he's already won the presidency now, so perhaps that accounts for some of that. people have been chanting "drain the swamp," for example, some of these introductory speakers. the vibe is a little bit more subdued. to someone that was here a fe

hallie? >> thanks, kelly. ron, before i let you go from the white house, i want to switch to what you were talking about. the meeting happening next week between president obama, folks on capitol hill about the affordable care act. is this a last ditch legacy-saving move by the president? >> reporter: yes. this is one of the issues president obama brought up at the meeting by donald trump in the oval office after the election. obamacare is probably one of the -- certainly one of the most important things president obama feels he's accomplished during his time in office. the aspect of the affordable care act like pre-existing conditions, like the fact there is no lifetime cap on benefits, no discrimination against women and other groups in pricing that those aspects should be saved. of course, the republicans claim that the prices are soaring, the premiums are too high and there is a better way to do this. that's a big battle shaping up. something president obama will fight to the finish before he leaves here.

let's pick up where durst's lawyers left off. >> this is blockbuster stuff, hallie. a very effective interrogation where the prosecutor basically gets durst talking and giving a little bit more and a little bit more including statements that are incriminating. it is no news that robert durst makes acquittal statements. he was acquit in a murder to confessing and cutting up and mutilating a body, cutting right into the bone. so he certainly gets away with things. what they are saying is putting this out there that you and i are on tv reporting on, it could take the jury pool. the problem is in previous motions, the prosecutors hadn't sought to introduce all this evidence. and it was only in response to the defense counsel claiming that it was all unfair, inaccurate, that he did not get a miranda warning. then the prosecutors pushed back to say, fine, here's the whole thing. it is a little too late for the defense to make that argument in truly good faith. >> okay, so what is the evidence or likelihood that this ends up making it to trial. what do you think? >> i think
