try and pass a resolution at the security council to impose on us an agreement which will create a hamas stand jeopardizing our existence. >> the 50 day war this summer left gas in ruins and left tens of thousands of palestinians homeless. efforts to rebuild have been slow. just yesterday ministers arrived in gaza to kickstart reconstruction talks. desperate gasses are counting on more than rhetoric. they need building supplies and those are hard to come by. israel keeps a tight hold on construction materials to make sure they are not used for military purposes by hamas. the international community pledged $5 billion to help rebuild back in october. palestinians are still waiting on those promises to be fulfilled. >> joining us now is an aljazeera america international affairs contributor mr. cole, good to see you. i want to get to gaza, but first this resolution. here you ever the palestinians trying to find a legal way to get statehood a political solution instead of the violence we've seen from hamas. why won't the u.s. let this pass? >> the resolution is actually quite reasonable. it

i remember some months back when israel was facing rocket fire from hamas.the faa banned flights into israel. now, when that that happened i went publicly and raise a few questions. i asked, has this administration just launched an economic boycott against the nation of israel? and i pointed out that the faa did not ban flights and pakistan into yemen, afghanistan it does not ban flights much into ukraine. even though ukraine, ukraine, you we will recall, had just a couple of months earlier, separatists had used a book missile to shoot down a commercial airliner. and into much of ukraine flights are allowed. and and because one rocket had fallen harmlessly about a mile away, one of the safest airports in the world ,, the faa had shut down every american flight into israel, and it had done so at the exact same time that john kerry arrived in the middle east with $47 million for gaza that would end up in the hands of hamas while the administration was pressuring the israeli government to stop acting to take out the rockets, to take out the terror tunnels that

a member of the hamas military wing was killed in the airstrike. hundreds of people filled th the streets of gaza for the funeral. the latest tensions happening alone the border of israel and gaza. we have the latest from gaza. >> reporter: well, it's here in this hospital in the southern gaza strip city where two men were injured in an incident involving the israeli security forces and a palestinian armed faction known as the custom brigades were involved in an altercation. we understand that one senior member of this palestinian armed faction was killed after israel forces fired guns and tank shells in their direction. we also understand that an israeli soldier was take on it hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to his chest in what has been described as a sunshiner attack. whatever the case there are many concerns here that we are seeing an up tick in violence. this is the second major incident between israeli forces and palestinian armed factions here in the gaza strip. and the concern here is that we'll return to the violence that we saw o
