jon sopel, bbc news, hamburg.there's been a second night of violent unrest in hamburg with thousands of riot police battling anti—capitalist protesters. almost 200 police officers are reported to have been injured, reinforcements have been drafted in, and cars and lorries set on fire. 0ur berlin correspondent jenny hill reports. a city centre is now a battleground. for 2a hours now, violence, chaos, fury, at donald trump, inequality, at the establishment. even the police here admit they do not have the resources to cope with this. not far from where we took these pictures, an officer fired a warning shot at protesters. protesters have been playing a game of cat and mouse with police. clashes like this have been breaking out all over the city all day in an unprecedented 2a hours of violence. hamburg is in lockdown. city stations deserted, everyone a suspect. tonight, the clashes, the riots, the violence continued. angela merkel chose liberal hamburg, the gateway to the world, for this summit. it is a decision she m

h hamburg is also a major trading city. it would have looked like a great place to hold the summit because it sends some messages, for example that the german chancellor would have wanted to send, like the importance of global trade in contrast to the messages we have heard from president trump. so she would have wanted to hold the summit in a major german city. and the protestors suggested there might be 10,000 demonstrators here. we don't know how many, but these are, i would say, a few thousands hard core comm demonstrators, not the majority of the view in germany or this city itself. just how much more of this will this be? >> i want to go to kelly o'donnell who is there covering the g 20 suspect as well. how much of the clashes are reaching your side? is it just the noise and is there any reaction from the white house about trump making his way there in the middle of the demonstration sngs. >> no reaction from the white house yet, but it was expected that there would be protests as we discussed. the g 20 always attract
