we are looking at snowfall piling up high up in mount hamilton area. well over a foot of it out that direction and the bigger picture, we're the only ones la getting rain and snow fall down there. we saw a little bit of snow flakes falling around the hollywood sign yesterday. snow up in the sierra nevada as well as along the north coast up into the northern end of the central valley. very, very wintry day ahead of u.s.. winter storm warnings above 1000 feet for the north bay and east bay hills, the south bay mountains, and even out into the central valley. now we are seeing in the bay area. temperature-wise freeze warnings, frost advisories for almost all the bay area. we are looking at snowfall mostly staying above 1000 feet, but a wintry mix occurring below that. that sleet that's grapple. that's even some freezing rain conditions. even a couple of flurries in elevations below that as well. so just because it might not be accumulating, still keep your eye out for a few. those flurries. and in some cases just hailed the cause. these very heavy showers

there to check out the conditions. >> well, right now i'm standing at the top of mount hamilton. that is the lick observatory behind me there. and as of late wednesday morning, it is 28 degrees out here. pretty risk. there's also snow, not a lot of it, maybe an inch or 2, but snow enough to cover the ground in some of the trees actually on the drive up, there was snow hiding in the shadows much further down the mountain. it was weird to see that combination of green grass with snow right next to it. the road up highway one 30 that goes over the top of mount hamilton is actually open as of midday wednesday. a lot of times when it snows up here, they will close it down. but there's not enough snow right now to make that necessary. that being said the drive-up was a little treacherous. there were a lot of places where the road was icy or covered in snow. they're also quite a few branches and debris in the roadway. most likely from the winds on tuesday. i also saw a few downed trees on the drive up. and while there may not be a lot of snow on wednesday, that is about to change. the n

we're talking up in mount hamilton. also some rain snow mix along highway 24 and along the great, too. so be careful in these spots. very, very slick. we're seeing winter storm warnings and snowfall from the sierra down into southern california up near the oregon border and even snow all the way out to the coast line up along the north coast, north of the bay area. winter storm warnings are still in effect for the bay area currently in or upper elevations as well as up into the sierra and even parts of the central valley. also still under freeze warnings and frost advisories through 09:00am. now current temperatures are in the 30's 40's. so it's cold. it's windy. and most notably it's wet, even slushy out there. all these factors lining up to giving yourselves much extra time as you're getting onto roadways. we're talking spots that are closed spots that are going to be slick all of it over the next few minutes. and getting us started with that on highway 17. exactly, john. pretty big problem spot here. you can not. >>

but mount hamilton could get a half foot of snow that's a lot more than hamilton has gotten this scenario. but it's the east bay hills. i know the map is a difficult one to make a detail like that. which is the very top of the east bay hills. as we get into thursday and this doesn't look like a significant storm up there. other than being interesting and a talker and cool to look at. that should be about it. there shouldn't be a lot. in the sierra, it's going to start snowing tuesday afternoon. travel home on monday if you're expecting someone to come back monday should be fine by a weather standpoint. then it will just get messier from there. watch the snow keep going as we take a look at the sierra all the way through next week. we're going to get about another two feet of snow there. it's good. good for the snow packt. pack. the north bay valleys are always the coldest. that's everybody else on thursday. we should be in the mid-30s. in the seven-day forecast you can see the chance of rain for wednesday, thursday and friday. but it's the cold and the wind. the little wind icon right the
