unfortunately new hampshire leads this nation in overdose deaths from fentanyl. sadly, it's now spreading across the country and it's something that has overwhelmed state crime labs already backlogged with testing crime scene evidence. we provided a total of $447 million more than the fy 2017 budget to help communities respond to the opioid crisis with a balance of enforcement, treatment, and prevention programs. i'm interested to hear how the department plans to expand these programs, and what your fy 2019 budget request will do. i'm concerned that right now it calls for eliminating key programs like the cops anti-heroin task forces, which we funded at $32 million. it calls for dramatic cuts in programs like the program which we talked about. i know it's something you care a lot about. because you authored that legislation. i'm also concerned about the continued hold on the fy 2017 burn jag awards to our states. this program is the backbone for helping states and local law enforcement with crime prevention efforts across the country. i know that my police chiefs
