new hampshire offered it. new hampshire is not for everyone. people are like, oh, it is so cold. >> what was it like to grow up in south africa being part of a minority, being part of this system? was it normal for you at the time? >> no. i have a very unique background. my dad worked with the apartheid regime. you know, we were not raised in a racist environment or anything . i actually traveled a lot as a child. having this comparison, i guess, of what life was like in south africa. the nationalist government, i was sort of growing up towards detail and. the nationalist government was sort of clinging to their power. seeing a lot of what we are seeing now in america in terms of mass censorship. telling people there's only one story or one answer. now i was an activist. i did go to marches. i worked with fcs when i was doing my law degree. i was one of the few lawyers who would actually go into the township and represent, you know, defendants. they talk about that and how i could do that. and then people are like it is not safe. don't do that.

trying to attract libertarians to the state of new hampshire. a mass migration movement so what we're trying to do and we've been around and are success stories are highly of the state but what we did is in 2001, this gentleman was a yale student at the time wrote asa and he was like what would happen if we put all libertarians in one geographic area. the problem is there are a lot of people who actually believe in freedom and the principles of freedom but there scattered all over america or all over the world. so he had this notion if you sort of concentrated together in one, you'd be able to make absolute differences and achieve liberty in our lifetime. so i read a bio back in 2003. i started going to new hampshire to check out the scene and in 2005 when i finished my mfa at city college i decided my husband and i were like let's move to new hampshire and see what this is about so we moved out and the rest as they say is history which you can read about in my book. >> what the experience been like living in newhampshire as part of this project

william marsh is a state representative in new hampshire elected to four terms. until this week he was a republican. he's also an ophthalmologist and has a staunch record for advocating for public health measures. he says the tipping point was this week when his colleagues opposed president biden's plan to require vaccinations for federal and private sector workers. so he planned on retiring quietly. he switched parties. he is now a democrat. here is his reasoning given to "the washington post." quote, it is not in the interests of the public to allow covid to spread in new hampshire as it has in florida. i am a doctor first, so i stood up for my patients and said i am done with this. he goes on to say, quote, i have come to realize a majority of republicans, both locally and in the new hampshire house, hold values which no longer reflect traditional republican values. and so i am recognizing the reality that today's republican

james, new hampshire, share your thought. -- thoughts. caller: my perspective, from this standpoint, at one time i was in haiti during the 1990 period and before, when they did have mass migrations and stuff in guantanamo bay, cuba, for a time, taking care of after the process, taking care of the haitians migrating, thousands and thousands of them there. since that time, i have married one of the migrants and we had a daughter. now she is a practicing physician in new york city. however, the numbers coming are massive and i understand that this country cannot absorb waves of people of that nature. and i realize the conditions that they were existing in in haiti, having been there and lived through that turbulent time. so, i understand why these people are coming, but there is a limit to which the united states can accept mass migration across the borders. host: james, what are your thoughts on many of them having not lived in haiti for a long time. they migrated after the earthquake, before or after that, to countries like brazil and chil
