a police officer spotted that driver near main and hampstead . by the time she caught up, he found a smashed car and the driver thrown to the ground. wmur' s mike cronin talked to investigators in salem. mike: police say the man was driving more than 90 miles an hour in an area where there are several homes could salem police say the driver sped past an officer on main street near hampstead road. the officer tried to pull the car over to quickly lost sight of it. the driver of the 1997 lexus went off the road, hit several trees, and crashed just down the road. he was thrown out of the car and found unconscious on the ground. he was taken in the hospital, then flown to a boston hospital with life-threatening injuries. police had to close that stretch of the road for several hours. several residents, multifamily residence within the area. this vehicle could easily end up in someone' s bedroom, living room, kitchen. we' re pretty lucky at this point that it was only the driver that was affected by this. mike: the driver' s name has not been released

reading now 49. 48 hampstead, new hampshire and out through fitchburg, 45 to 48 auburn in the south shore we're going to see pockets of 40's show up. we already have them in foxboro and at el borough but west bridgewater to taunton and wareham and then we go out through cape cod our temperature in the middle 50's. some stations not reporting that's why they are missing. anyway, high clouds, driving in here they come. i still think we'll be able to manage to get into the 30's in some of the suburbs tonight before we see those clouds kind of envelope the whole area then stop that cooling process. clouds act as a blanket. now tomorrow the clouds will be with us but we'll get some raise of sun in here early, get us up into the mid and upper 50's. i would say mid 60's is pushing it in my book. i think 57 or 58 would be the top little on our temperatures before the rain showers catch up with us. don't they? they are moving out here going through virginia and pushing into delmarva right now. have you kate sitting here off of the bahamas and it looks like kate will stay as a separate entity. keep
