josh: tonight a community is coming together to help a family in hampstead devastated by a fire that destroyed their home. john ward lost his wife who was also the mother to their three children. wmur's suzanne roantree with support. reporter: yes, just hours after the devastating fire destroyed the wards' home, renee mcdonald and her husband set up a gofundme account to help a community member in need. within minutes renee's computer started dinging with notifications of people already donating to the fund. she says the power of social media spread the word quickly. even the patriots, julian help the and retweeted the link out to a half million followers. renee says the community of hampstead, businesses and families alike have all helped out. >> there was part of me that just wanted to know that people still. obviously it's there. i mean, beyond like everything. and then i guess today i saw and i said oh boy. reporter: the gofundme account has more than $40,000 in it with thousands more being raised in the community of hempstead. to find out how to help, log onto wmur.com. suzanne
